Hope everyone is having a nice week as we are half way to the weekend! Here is your midweek update to get your morning going with our Breakfast Links.  

Houston

The Houston Dynamo prepare to take on the New York Red Bulls this Saturday. Houston Dynamo FC forward Amine Bassi and defender Franco Escobar were named to the MLSSoccer.com Team of the Matchday for Matchday 7, the league announced Tuesday.

The Houston Dash fell 5-1 against the Mexican Women’s National team in their international friendly Tuesday night at Shell Energy Stadium. In other news, the team announced a multi-year partnership with Dogtopia Houston Galleria and Dogtopia NASA. Dogtopia, the official dog boarding partner of the Houston Dash, will be supported by the team in a variety of community initiatives and branded digital activations. Additionally, Dash players will benefit from dog boarding services provided by the agreement. 

Houston Dynamo 2 earned their first win of the season and look to make it Dos as they take on LAFC II. Come support the boys at SaberCats Stadium on Sunday at 6:30 PM! The game will be broadcast on AppleTV as well!

Carlos Vela put in a vintage performance, José Cifuentes added a wonder goal, and LAFC strolled into the Concacaf Champions League semifinals Tuesday night by handily defeating Vancouver Whitecaps FC 3-0 (6-0 on aggregate) in their quarterfinal return leg at BMO Stadium.

An all-MLS Concacaf Champions League semifinal could be in the cards, with Liga MX club Atlas standing in the way of the Philadelphia Union making that happen tonight at Estadio Jalisco in the return leg of their quarterfinal series.  

Around the World  

Champions League Nights are back! Manchester City took a massive step toward the final four of the Champions League after a stirring 3-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the first leg of their quarterfinal at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.

Internazionale struck in the second half through Nicolo Barella and Romelu Lukaku for a 2-0 win at Benfica in their Champions League quarterfinal, first leg on Tuesday, which put them on course for a first last-four appearance since they won the trophy in 2010

The quarterfinals continue today as Milan faces Napoli at the San Siro and Madrid host Chelsea. On Thursday, European competitions continue as the Europa League and Europa League Conference quarterfinals go underway. 

The United States women beat the Republic of Ireland 1-0 on Tuesday night in a friendly at CityPark in St. Louis, with 18-year-old Alyssa Thompson getting the start and playing the whole 90 minutes.
