It’s another week of action packed matches! You know what time it is! Here is your midweek update to get your morning going with our Breakfast Links.  

Houston

The Houston Dash ppen Challenge Cup play at Shell Energy Stadium tonight against the Kansas City Current. Kickoff is 6:30 PM, come support your Houston Dash! 

The Houston Dynamo focus their attention this week on Inter Miami as they prepare to host the Floridians. Also, on Tuesday, Concacaf announced the full match schedule for the 2023 Gold Cup. Shell Energy Stadium will host four Gold Cup group stage matches this summer and NRG Stadium will host two.

Dynamo general manager Pat Onstad joined Soccer Matters with Glenn Davis this week. Onstad talked about the situation with Sebas Ferreira and even hinted at a signing before Monday’s transfer deadline. Give it a listen!

Houston Dynamo 2 have had a slow start to their season. After drawing against LAFC 2 and winning the penalty shootout, Dos will look forward to getting a win versus Tacoma Defiance Sunday at SaberCats Stadium.

Major League Soccer  

CF Montreal scored twice in a five-minute span in the first half to defeat Vaughan SC, 2-0, in the preliminary round of the 2023 Canadian Championship at Stade Saputo Tuesday night. They will next take on Toronto FC in the quarterfinals.

Matchday 8 roared to life late Saturday night via big victories for Portland Timbers and St. Louis CITY SC, two Western Conference clubs that lead this week’s Team of the Matchday.

The New England Revolution have bolstered their fullback depth, announcing Tuesday they've signed Ben Sweat through the 2023 season with a club option for 2024. Sweat will occupy a supplemental roster slot.

And then there were four… Champions League quarterfinals are finishing up as European giants Real Madrid defeated Chelsea to advance to the semis. AC Milan managed to hold off Napoli in a one-all draw to advance as well. Today, Manchester City look to cruise over Bayern Munich and Inter Milan host Benfica to determine the last two spots. 

On Thursday, European competitions continue as the Europa League and Europa League Conference quarterfinals get underway. 

CONCACAF rivals will meet tonight as the USMNT take on El Tri. This is their first rivalry match post World Cup and both nations will be playing with a squad of predominantly domestic players. 

Wrexham moved to within a single victory of guaranteeing promotion to the English Football League (EFL) after a 3-0 home victory over Yeovil Town on Tuesday.
