We’re halfway to the weekend! Here is your midweek update to get your morning going with our Breakfast Links.
Houston
Houston Dynamo FC resume league play on Sunday, August 20 when they host the Portland Timbers at Shell Energy Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
Houston Dash return to regular season play on Sunday, August 19, hosting the Washington Spirit at Shell Energy Stadium. Houston will be celebrating “Pups at the Pitch” night, presented by Nationwide Insurance. Fans can bring their favorite four-legged friend to the match, and the first 6,000 fans will receive a Dash bandana. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
Houston Dynamo 2 travel to San Jose to face Earthquakes II, August 19 at PayPal Park, with kickoff scheduled for 9:00 PM CT. Dos has been in great form and they hope to keep it going.

Major League Soccer
The 2023 Leagues Cup is guaranteed to have an MLS champion after Nashville SC and Inter Miami CF won their semifinals on Tuesday night. Nashville and Miami have also locked up spots in the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup (CCC) via their guaranteed top-two finishes in Leagues Cup. Meanwhile, Philadelphia Union will vie for the third CCC spot via Leagues Cup when meeting Liga MX's CF Monterrey in the Third-Place Game.
Around the World
The stage is set! England reached their first Women's World Cup final after beating Australia 3-1 on Wednesday despite a wonder goal from Matildas striker Sam Kerr as the co-hosts' fairytale run came to an end. After falling in the semifinals in each of the previous two World Cups, England will face Spain on Sunday looking to add a world title to last year's European Championship triumph.
Barcelona have announced the appointment of former Portugal international Deco as the club's new sporting director on a three-year deal.
Manchester City and Sevilla are rewarded for last year's European triumphs with a chance for another trophy as the two meet in Greece for the 2023 UEFA Super Cup.
