Houston

Houston Dynamo FC captain Héctor Herrera was named to the roster for the 2023 Major League Soccer All-Star Game, the league announced yesterday. The MLS All-Stars will face Arsenal FC at Audi Field in Washington, D.C. on July 19. Dynamo fans can watch the game on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

The Houston Dash have signed Brazilian Women’s National Team midfielder and 2023 Italian Serie A Champion, Andressa Alves, the team announced today. Alves is signed through the 2024 season with an option for 2025. Andressa, who was recently called up to the Brazilian Women’s National Team ahead of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, will join the Dash pending the receipt of her P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC). 

Houston Dynamo 2 closed a two-game homestand with a 2-1 loss to Earthquakes II. Dynamo 2 travel to face the Tacoma Defiance at Cheney Stadium on Sunday, July 2 at 9:00 p.m. CT.

Minnesota United FC have signed forward Teemu Pukki to a Designated Player contract through June 2025 with a club option through December 2025, the club announced Tuesday.

The New England Revolution are acquiring winger Tomás Chancalay on loan from Argentine side Racing Club with a purchase option, according to a report from transfer insider Cesar Luis Merlo.

Around the World

A shock 93rd-minute leveler from Guadeloupe forced Canada to settle for a 2-2 draw in their Concacaf Gold Cup Group D opener at Toronto FC’s BMO Field on Tuesday. The USMNT is set to face St. Kitts and Nevis tonight, match is scheduled for 8:30 PM CT. 

Tottenham are on the verge of signing James Maddison from Leicester City in a deal worth in the region of £40 million ($50.7m), sources have told ESPN.

Arsenal are close to agreeing on a deal with West Ham for Declan Rice after Manchester City pulled out of the race to sign the midfielder, sources told ESPN.

U.S. women's national team manager Vlatko Andonovski has been busy. In the buildup to USWNT's roster announcement for the Women's World Cup last week, he made "a total of 39 calls" to let players know that they made the 23-player World Cup squad -- or that they missed the cut. Out of those 39 players, only one who consistently occupies the striker position for both club and country was named to the final squad: Alex Morgan.
