Dash announce final roster before season opener Sunday
There are now just a few days left before the kickoff of the NWSL season this weekend. Yesterday, the Houston Dash released their updated roster before their home match with Racing Louisville on Sunday at Shell Energy Stadium.
Contract offers were extended to defender Jyllissa Harris, midfielder Sophie Hirst and defender Madelyn Desiano. The three players were seclcted in January’s NWSL Draft.
The team’s other draft pick, defender Lindsi Jennings, will continue to train with the club through the CBA-mandated signing window.
With goalkeeper Ella Dederick placed on the Season Ending Injury List, the Dash extended a contract offer to Savannah Madden. The goalkeeper came to preseason camp as a non-roster invitee and has now earned a chance to join the team.
To get the final roster down to 26 players, the Dash also waived forward Michaela Abam and midfielder Elizabeth Eddy. Abam was with the team since 2021 and Eddy since 2022.
On a sad note, midfielder Emily Curran suffered a Torn ACL during preseason training and will be placed on the Season Ending Injury List.
