Houston Dash sign Katy native Bárbara Olivieri
The Houston Dash have announced the signing of attacker Bárbara Olivieri. The Katy native was recently released from her contract with CF Monterrey in Liga MX Femenil. Olivieir joins the Dash on a 1-year contract with an option for 2024.
“Bárbara is an exciting young player who brings creativity on the ball as an attacking midfielder and a range to score goals from all over the pitch,” Dash general manager, Alex Singer said. “She can break lines, find space to create and combine with teammates, or create chances for herself. We’re thrilled to bring her back to her hometown and see her development with the club.”
Oliviieri, who turns 21 this month, played at Tompkins High School in Katy, where she played in two state championship finals, before going to Texas A&M University. The Venezuelan spent two years playing for the Aggies before leaving to play professionally in Mexico. Olivieri earned United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region in each of her two seasons in Aggieland, including First Team as a freshman and Third Team as a sophomore in 2021. She was named the 2020 SEC Freshman of the Year and earned All-SEC in both her seasons in College Station, including first-team distinction in 2020 and second-team recognition in 2021. She finished her Aggie career with 27 appearances, 13 goals, and 8 assists.
Olivieri signed for Monterrey in February of 2022 and made 19 appearances, scoring 3 goals. She made her debut for the Venezuelan National Team in December 2021, scoring the game-winning goal and adding an assist in her first career international appearance.
