HOUSTON DASH HEAD COACH FRAN ALONSO
On the win:
“I'm very proud of the players. They deserved to win the match. They did an outstanding job and worked so hard the whole game. Our pressing was outstanding. We made it very difficult for the opposition to break us down. When we had to defend the box, they put their bodies on the line. I'm delighted that we won the game. I'm delighted that the person who scored the goal was Paige (Nielsen). It was a perfect day. I am absolutely delighted for the players."
On Paige Nielsen:
“We all love Paige (Nielsen). Even some Angel City fans were happy she scored. She is a lovely human being and a great football player. We were all so delighted for her. It was a special game for her. The girls gave their all today. Their energy levels were outstanding. As I said, just delighted that Paige scored a goal. I met her family earlier today and it was a great day for her. I'm very, very proud of her.”
HOUSTON DASH GOALKEEPER JANE CAMPBELL
On the win:
“A huge victory on the road. We knew it was going to be tough coming in here. They are quite a talented team and the atmosphere here is kind of unmatched in the league. We knew it was going to be a hard game. I’m thankful we got one at very end there and made it exciting. I am pumped to get the three points and really, really proud of the group.”
HOUSTON DASH DEFENDER PAIGE NIELSEN
On her goal celebration with teammates:
“I really want my impact on this team to be this togetherness. These girls have been through a lot, like a lot of coaching changes. I've been through it with other clubs. I saw it when I came in, they were in 13th place and going through a lot. I really want to bring this togetherness within the team. The energy level of the bench and everyone that has been working so hard is so important. This is a long season, and we need every single person. I just wanted to rally the troops. The celebration is one of my go-to celebrations. One, I don't have a best friend team yet, usually I like to look at them and point. Two, I just wanted to bring everyone together in that moment. If I just went to the people on the field, then the players on the bench would just be cheering, but I wanted everyone to feel that and remember that moment so we can move forward together from there.”
