Houston Dash at Chicago Stars staff picks

The Houston Dash lost their opener but will now look for their first points of 2025 in Chicago. We asked our staff for their predictions on today’s match against the Stars.

Rudy - 1-1 draw
(Record: 1-0)

The Houston Dash looked very impressive under Fabrice Gautrat against the Washington Spirit, especially in the second half. If we see that version of the team then I can see them taking points away from the Stars, but a draw will be my conservative prediction.

Dustyn - 0-0 draw
(Record: 1-0)

Houston looked good in their opener against a very good Washington side. Now the Dash face their first road test. Diana Ordoñez’s return could spark something in the attack but the Dash still need to unlock the offense. Chicago conceded six times last week but that was against Orlando, I expect a scoreless draw today.

Manny - 2-0 Dash win
(Record: 1-0)

The Dash played a strong second half last week against Washington and gave them a run for their money. Chicago was ripped apart by a strong Pride team in their opener. The Stars iare battling injuries and absences with a number of players out. If the Dash can show that second half against the Spirit through a whole 90 minutes, they will overwhelm Chicago.

Joey - 2-2 draw
(Record: 1-0)

Chicago were dismantled on opening day by Orlando, opening up a nice opportunity for the Dash to score some goals. If the Dash can play a great defensive game then they can walk away with all 3 points, but that is definitely not a guarantee with how they played in the first half against Washington.

Diego - 2-0 win
(Record: 0-0)

Houston showed insane amounts of progress despite their loss against Washington, and Chicago conceded 6 goals to one of the best teams in the NWSL. If Fabrice Gautrat’s squad can hash out some of the defensive issues that happened against Washington, this team will be alright.
