HOUSTON DASH ASSISTANT COACH RICKY CLARKE

On the match:

“We spoke about it before the game. We knew it was going to be a difficult place to come and play. (Kansas City) is top of the league. They're scoring goals. They're an attacking team. We said, you know stick to the details. Try and stay compact when we don't have the ball, try and cause problems when we have the ball. For 70 minutes up until they scored we did that. We changed a little bit into the game, how we defended based on their shape. We don't like losing, but based on how hard we worked, we were pleased with how we applied ourselves. Again, we don't like losing, but we were pleased with the energy and the effort we put into the game."

On stepping into this role:

“I work with the players every day. So, for me, it's just another game. The way we work as a technical staff, we're very included in the process. What we're trying to do, how we're trying to do things. So, for me, it was just about sticking to the things that we had spoken about during the week. I've been, acting head coach before. It was just about trying to coach the game, make sure if there's any changes that needed to happen. We addressed them. I think we did that. I am very proud of the way the team played. We applied ourselves and there's perhaps little moments in the game that if we could have took advantage of, it might have been a little bit different."

On Jane Campbell’s performance:

“Not just today, the entire season. She's an incredible person on the field and off the field. She has this driven mentality that spreads throughout our team. There's no surprise that she stands at the top of that list in terms of how many saves she's had. I think she's just going to continue to get better and better. She is one of the best goalkeepers in the country. She'll continue to improve. She applies herself every day. We're just pleased that she's a Houston Dash player."

HOUSTON DASH MIDFIELDER SARAH PUNTIGAM

On the game:

“We knew it was going to be a tough match. We didn't start very well. We changed our system a bit during the first half and, I think then, we were a little better. We must progress and continue to find ways to possess the ball. We win the ball, but we lose it too quickly. Kansas has the quality to punish us."

On the need to score goals:

“We need to work on our possession, that we keep the ball better, that we get into the final third and then be clinical. We get into the final third and have the chances. That's something we can improve on. We will keep working. We keep believing. Scoring has a lot to do with self-confidence. Maybe, we're missing that a little bit. I think it's going to come. We have good very good players up front.”

On GK Jane Campbell:

“Jane (Campbell) is amazing. She saves us in every game. Also in the locker room, she's super important. She's someone who keeps the the team together. A true leader and we are so lucky to have her on our team."
