HOUSTON DASH HEAD COACH FABRICE GAUTRAT

On the game:

“It was an okay performance. Everyone can kind of see that the real positive is a clean sheet. We really limited their quality chances in and around the box. So, that's a positive. I felt we struggled to really get into their half and actually create quality chances and sustained possession. A lot of frivolous turnovers led to that, and then obviously having to retreat and just be in a mid-block, which was fine, because they didn't really break us. Those are just a couple observations.”

On the team’s defensive performance:

"We were fairly sound, they had a lot of the ball, but it was more in their back line and just moving it. We didn't really concede too many quality chances, to be honest. Overall, it was good. If you look at the previous two games, I would say the same thing, however, the other team just found a way to score. So, that was a good, good, positive sign for us. I saw the stats, we didn't create much, but we really didn't allow them tocreate much either.”

On improving in the attacking third:

“In my experience, the offensive side is one of the hardest things to get into and float. Especially with how we play, if you notice our structure and the connected passes, one errant pass kind of breaks that down. So, you just need constantly, like, the distances need to be right. Obviously, I got to go back and into the film, but that's one of the hardest things to do, is consistently, you know, break lines and then create chances.”

On Maggie Graham’s first start”

“She seemed to be fine afterwards (first half injury). It was good for her to get her first start. It's very different when you come off the bench versus starting. Overall, I think she had a solid performance. Very pleased with her.”

On Ramona Bachmann’s return:

"She's been training really well. The biggest thing is just getting her game fitness back and just kind of getting that sharpness. Everyone knows how much quality she has. She can change a game if she's really on. So yeah, we're really looking forward to it. She's going to go into camp and get quality minutes there, I think it'll be good for her. When we come back, hopefully we can hit the ground running.”

HOUSTON DASH GOALKEEPER JANE CAMPBELL

On the game:

“I thought the performance today was good. The first half, Gotham did well breaking us down a bit. The good news is when they broke us down, not much came of it. You know their attack is quite electric and talented. We're definitely not overlooking that, but I thought defending the goal as we got deeper in our half defensively, I thought it was solid. Everybody top to bottom, I thought defended well and did our best to regain the ball. So yeah, just happy with the shutout. Some of the young players may not look at it as a big deal, but it is a big deal. It's not a win, but it's going to give us some momentum going into the FIFA break and hopefully against Angel City.”

On the chemistry of the team:

“Each game has presented different challenges. Each team is so different depending on who we face, and LA will be no different. They're going to pose much different problems than Gotham posed, and I think every week we just need to continue to kind of build each brick. We don't want to peak against Angel City it would be far too early. We're all still trying to learn the system and maybe tweak a bit each game depending on the opponent. I think (Fabrice Gautrat) is happy with it. I don't think it's a secret. I don't think it was our best performance, but again, a shutout is great. We'll take it for sure and a point at home. You know, we still want to get coach Fabrice, and the staff a win at home for sure. But we'll take the point and take the shutout.”

On the defending of the team:

“We're learning this new press and this defensive style. If we're not going to press. Natalie (Jacobs) is probably one of our most aggressive defenders or forward thinking. When she goes, she goes and it's either the player or the ball. So, for us, I think to have her and that mentality on the line to kind of lead the charge from the back, especially defensively it's super helpful and I know she took a couple kicks to the ankles, but I think we needed something like that, especially out of the defensive unit against Gotham.”

HOUSTON DASH FORWARD YAZMEEN RYAN

On today’s game:

“It's always good to get as many points as you can, obviously we wanted the full three points, but I think that we still limited the quality of their chances. We definitely wanted more to happen, we wanted the ball more on our side, but I think it's a good sign to still come out with a clean sheet.”

On playing her former team:

“It was definitely motivation to beat them but it's always good seeing some of the girls and playing your former team. The way it was when I was at Gotham playing Portland. I definitely wanted to get a goal, but next time.”

On the chemistry of the team:

“We're still building every day, and anytime we get out with a clean sheet is a good sign and good to build on. We're headed in the right direction and what we're trying to do is going to be good when we all can connect and execute the game plan that is asked of us. I'm really excited for what's to come, we're only three games in so I'm really excited for what we're going to do each and every game.”
