Houston Dynamo 2 picked up another point as they drew 2-2 with Sporting Kansas City II on Friday in Lawrence, KS. SKC won the penalty kick shootout to get the extra point.

Nico Hansen once again started in goal, supported by Kieran Sargeant, Jefferson Medina, Femi Awodesu, and Isaac Mwakututya on the defensive line. The midfield comprised of Ousmane Sylla, Sebastian Rodriguez, Josue, and Isaiah Reid, while Ifu Achara partnered with Diego Gonzalez in the attack.

The game ignited early for Dynamo 2 with Sylla embarking on a solo run. After evading a couple of defenders, he was brought down inside the box by the keeper, earning the first scoring opportunity of the match in the 5th minute from the penalty spot. Sylla expertly placed the ball in the upper corner, giving Dos the early lead.

Sporting attempted to respond in the 13th minute when Sebastian Cruz embarked on his own solo run and took a shot upon entering the box, narrowly missing the target. In the 18th minute, Kansas City came closer when the ball was played to Cruz on the right side, resulting in a shot across the goal that ricocheted off the post. Sporting gradually applied pressure, edging closer to an equalizer.

After persistent efforts in the final third against the orange-clad team, Cruz managed to deliver a cross into the box in the 32nd minute. The ball threaded through a maze of legs and found Johann Ortiz at the far post, who struck it on his first touch to level the match.

Sporting Kansas City dominated the closing minutes of the first half, eager to secure a second goal before halftime.

The second half began with Dynamo Dos showing promising momentum, as Sargeant executed a brilliant one-two with Sylla. His cross intended for Achara at the far post was intercepted by a timely defensive intervention, resulting in a corner kick.

In the 54th minute, SKC threatened with their first chance of the second half, but Hansen dived to his near post to deny a shot that seemed destined for the back of the net.

Dynamo 2 regained their lead in the 71st minute when Sylla received the ball at the top of the box, cut inside to his left, and unleashed a low shot to the opposite corner, putting the visitors ahead once more.

An equalizer arrived for SKC late in the 86th minute from a corner kick. After a series of rebounds, the ball fell to Maouloune Goumballe, who clinically finished to level the score, sending the game into penalty kicks at the end of regulation.

Houston Dynamo 2 returned to Houston with a hard-earned point, and their next challenge awaits as they travel to face St. Louis CITY 2 this upcoming Sunday at 6 p.m. Catch all the action on MLS on Apple TV. #VamosDos #VamosLosPibes
