Dynamo 2sday: Dos trounced by rival North Texas SC

Houston Dynamo 2 traveled up I-45 to visit North Texas SC, the top team in the Western Conference, aiming to replicate their recent 4-0 victory. Unfortunately, the match turned out to be the complete opposite.

The starting XI featured a familiar lineup: Xavier Valdez was in goal, with Kieran Sargeant, Jefferson Medina, Femi Awodesu, and Isaac Mwakutuya in the back line. The midfield comprised of Josue Souza, Sebastian Rodriguez, and Jordy Burbano, while Ousmane Sylla, Stephen Annor, and Diego Gonzalez led the attack.

North Texas SC struck early, with Tarik Scott scoring in the 9th minute. Despite holding a 58% to 42% possession advantage and generating more shots, Dynamo Dos struggled to find the net, and the second half proved no better.

The home team continued to capitalize, adding three more goals. The lone bright spot for the visitors was Sebastian Rodriguez's stunning goal, which won Goal of the Match Week with over 70% of the votes. To compound the difficulties, Diego Gonzalez received a red card late in the match, leaving the team with just ten men—a fittingly tough day for Kenny Bundy's squad.

Dynamo 2 will have a quick turnaround, facing Minnesota United 2 tonight at 7 PM at SaberCats Stadium. They will also host Minnesota United 2 later in the week, on Sunday, August 25, at 7 PM. One of these matches is a rescheduled game from earlier in the season. This presents a crucial opportunity for Dynamo Dos to secure points against one of the season's struggling teams.
