HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH BEN OLSEN

On the mindset going into the match:

“Well, the same thoughts I always have coming in this building, that it is going to be a battle. It is going to be a fight. You got to try somehow to control the chaos of it all and outwork them, win the duels and the transition moments happened very, very fast here. They're just really good here. To get something out of it, we did not get the three points, but we got our first road point and that's important. Certainly, looking at the data here, there are a few chances. We take this point, and we are a little bit disappointed in how late they scored, and we weren't able to get all three points. This was important, to come here and get something out of it.”

On the positive takeaways from the match:

“Everybody showed up, we haven't had to dig in and fight like that yet this year. There's always a unique challenge to come here. They're athletic, fast, they are scrappy. Again, they understand the chaos better than most teams. We bent a lot of times, but we didn't break that often. That is a characteristic that we're going to need throughout the season. It's not always going to be like this when you come in here and have to play at this speed and deal with these many duels. Overall, we take from it that we can slug it out, and that's an important trait.”

HOUSTON DYNAMO MIDFIELDER ADALBERTO CARRASQUILLA (TRANSLATED FROM SPANISH)

On his goal:

"Yes, it was a very good decision on the part of (Ivan Franco), because just when the ball suited him well, the opposing player lost his footing but pressuring him, I yelled at him to play me the ball and he found me practically without seeing me. I know he only assumed I was alone and then there were seconds to decide, either to take a shot on goal or play the ball. I decided to give it a go over the top since the goalkeeper came out to lunge at the ball. It was very good decision making across the board.”

On the importance of getting a point:

“This is bittersweet as you say, because just when it seemed that we had everything under control, understanding well that in the last play they scored. It is a bit of punch in the gut, right? Because we practically had three points, but it is true that we also did not expect to win against this rival. In the end we were up 1-0, we tried to see out the result. And well, due to an oversight on our part, which we must also improve, we got a point. In the end, it was very positive.”
