HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH BEN OLSEN

On the game:

“We're very excited about the three points. We talked about rewarding ourselves in that locker room for a lot of hard work over the last couple of months. Also rewarding the fans, making sure that this place is somewhere where we can play good soccer, win and entertain our fans from Houston. Rewarding them, rewarding ourselves tonight, overall, we're very pleased to get that out of the way. Coaches can say whatever they want, but you want to get your first win. It helps quite a bit, the mood there is very good. The message now is to grow and get better and make sure that we can put this type of performance on at home consistently, because I do believe it's a recipe for getting into the postseason.”

HOUSTON DYNAMO MIDFIELDER HECTOR HERRERA

On the win over Austin:

“This win was a very important one for us. In the matches prior to the results didn’t come our way but the team was playing very well. We needed to solidify a win by scoring goals. Tonight’s match was a complete game. The team did a good job offensively and defensively. This is the path that we want to be on.”

HOUSTON DYNAMO DEFENDER DANIEL STERES

On the rivalry:

“You know, it's a rivalry game, right? Here's Texas state rivalry out here. We didn't do well last year and we wanted to come out and show that we deserve to be back at the top and do it for the fans because we know what it means to them. We want to see them cheering like they were tonight and have something to cheer for. For us, big win with great way to start the season at home and we're just going to carry on from here.”
