HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH BEN OLSEN
On the match:
“Three more points at home. Thats the most important thing and it’s been something we continue to harp on and continue to understand; that that’s going to be a real big part of this culture shift and taking care of this building. Not only now, but as it gets a little hotter as well. So that part is good. It was nice to score a few goals on dead ball situations and also one on the run of play, which has been a little bit harder for us, it’s still a work in progress but we’re getting there slowly.”
On if he saw what happened at the end of the match:
“I didn't. I think (MF) Brooklyn (Raines) brought some physicality to the moment, but I think it was fair. Then I think it just boiled over, you know? Listen, I've been in LA’s shoes and down three zero, and the ball's moving around. You can't catch it. It's a frustrating situation and things can boil over really quickly. The grown men are getting the ball passed around them. I wasn't surprised at it, but I don't know that I want our team in those, but it's okay if our team to be in those. We need that in our game. We need to make sure that we look after each other and that we have a little bit of a chip on our shoulder. Obviously, not thrilled with the (MF) Hector (Herrera) play, but again, there's something behind all this, there's a pulse that I don't mind that about our group and that we stand up for each other. We're physical. I think that'll go a long way in changing the culture here.”
HOUSTON DYNAMO MIDFIELDER ARTUR
On the match up with LA’s midfield
“We knew that they have a good midfield. We had to be prepared for that. I think we did well. The first half, we took a little bit of time to adjust to them and identiyfy how to defend a little bit but after like 30 minutes, I think we started doing better. We were not clean enough with the ball in the first half, we could have punished them a little bit more. The second half, we did much better and they are a good team. We are a very good team in the midfield and I think it was a good matchup."
HOUSTON DYNAMO DEFENDER DANIEL STERES
On the defensive changes:
"It's tough, losing Tate (Schmitt) last week, and having to sort that out. Franco came in and did a great job out left, something that's not natural for him. Just as a team, it's not just the backline, the structure of the team has been pretty solid here at home. If we continue to do that, and we can take that on the road – hopefully learn from what we're doing here and use that. Another shutout, will take that and that's what we're trying to do.”
On how they will carry their form into road games:
“That's what we got to figure out obviously. In San Jose, I thought we were pretty good defensively. We have a little bit more in front of our box, a little more shots than we have at home, but you know, two pk goals happen. We've been doing an okay job, we got to continue and find our formula. What we're doing here is good and if we keep this a fortress and keep doing this here, we'll figure it out on the road for a few games.”
