Enemy Scouting Report - New York Red Bulls

The Houston Dynamo couldn’t get their first win in their home opener against Kansas City last weekend. Now, they will get another try at getting all three points at Shell Energy Stadium, this time playing the New York Red Bulls.

It is a rare occasion where the Dynamo play against the Red Bulls in back-to-back years. In 2023, Houston went up to Red Bull Arena and returned home with a point after a late Omir Fernandez goal equalized the match. Fernandez is no longer with the team, but in all honesty who is? New York moved away from 9 players during the offseason. The team opted for quality over quantity in replacing the departures. The biggest and probably one of the best offseason moves in all of Major League Soccer is Swedish international, Emil Forsberg. The Swede can ball! Forsberg is still very quick on his feet. He is a creative playmaker who is known for his ability to create goal scoring opportunities and assists. Pencil Emil in as the player to keep an eye on for the Red Bulls.

Playing and coaching in D.C., Ben Olsen knows exactly what New York all is about. He will need to well equip his team to withstand the relentless pressure that the Red Bulls will likely bring into each game day. Rotation will be important once again as the team looks to the next Champions Cup match, midweek against reigning MLS Cup winners Columbus Crew.
