2024 in review

The Houston Dynamo entered the year with little to no midfield depth with Hector Herrera out injured for months and Brooklyn Raines just not being ready to start games. In came Jan Gregus who brought six years of MLS experience to the table.

Jan was an important piece to the early season, starting seven of the first ten games in all competitions. He played alright for the most part. He was never winning games on his own but they certainly were not losing games because of him either.

He ended up starting one more match against Detroit in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup, which was one of his best performances of the year. He only played one more minute the rest of the season after that game and barely even made the bench in most games.

Moment of the season

There was no particular moment to mention but he was spectacular in the Dynamo’s first regular season win of the season. This came against Portland where he ran the show, completing 62 out of 64 passes while putting in a great shift off the ball as well.

Looking forward

Jan is out of contact and will not be on the Dynamo roster next season. Brooklyn’s emergence and Coco Carrasquilla’s return to midfield has made Jan surplus to requirements. He will likely look for another MLS team looking for some cheap midfield depth or go back to Europe.
