It wasn’t long ago that Micael was playing his games with Dynamo 2. Now, he’s building on the trust Ben Olsen placed in him last season. This season, Micael has been a cornerstone of the team’s defense, leading the backline in minutes played while also topping the team in tackles and interceptions.

Micael developed a strong partnership with Erik Sviatchenko, forming a duo that made the Dynamo defense difficult to break down. His ability to quickly recover the ball and make crucial, last-ditch challenges often proved to be the difference between winning and dropping points. Additionally, Micael posed a threat on set pieces—whether defending them or making runs to try to score off corners.

He solidified his spot in the starting lineup, surpassing veterans like Daniel Steres and Ethan Bartlow, who were expected to challenge his place but ultimately couldn't displace him. Micael has proven himself to be one of the top defenders in MLS, even though his talent often goes underrated. The sky's the limit for his future in the league.

Moment of the season

Unfortunately, this goal wasn’t counted in his MLS stats since it came in Leagues Cup, but it showcased Micael's strength and jumping ability to beat everyone to the ball during set pieces. Off a dead-ball delivery from Hector Herrera, Micael powered into the box, muscled past defenders, and outjumped the goalkeeper to score and give the Dynamo the lead—something he consistently aims to do on every set piece.

Looking forward

The Dynamo exercised their club option, ensuring Micael will return in 2025. With both him and Erik anchoring the backline, the Dynamo will have a solid defensive foundation for the upcoming season. General manager Pat Onstad hinted that Micael could be on the move, perhaps to Europe. Until a significant offer comes in for Micael, the club plans to keep him as long as possible and build the defense around him. He’s just getting started here.
