HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH BEN OLSEN

On the performance:

“It was a little bit of the same script as last time we played them. It’s a very frustrating result, but the guys played well. We came into a tough place and played at a level where we should have gotten something out of this game. Austin made the play that mattered, and it’s that simple. We are proud of the effort, but it does sting a little bit. We have another derby game this weekend, so we’ll get back to work very quickly to go after Dallas. If we can get some points out of that, we will look at this as a good week, especially with the road win over Kansas City last weekend.”

His message to fans:

“It’s always heartbreaking because you want to reward the fans and send them home happy. We are sorry for the result, but they can be proud of the way this group plays. It’s just not falling for us right now, but we are pushing to capitalize on the quality that we bring to the games. With the quick turnaround, we are going to have to use depth and guys will have to recover. It’s not time to feel sorry for ourselves, and we have to focus on getting points against Dallas.”

On bouncing back:

“We go back to work, recover and focus on Dallas. We must be careful not to get too emotional with the results - good or bad. It’s important for us to identify where we can get better, which is currently the final product. It’s a long season, but we are in an okay spot. We’ll get some guys back healthy and keep grinding.”

HOUSTON DYNAMO DEFENDER ETHAN BARTLOW

On the result:

“It sucks. We played really well, especially in the second half. Conceding to Austin late again on a set piece hurt. I don’t know if there’s a team I hate losing to more than Austin.”

His message to fans:

“We appreciate the support so much because it’s a long drive. We did the same drive yesterday. We felt and heard your support tonight, and we are sorry we couldn’t get a result, but we really appreciate the fans.”

On bouncing back:

“This team is really close knit, and we fight for each other, which we have seen over the last two years. We are excited that it’s a quick turnaround for another rivalry game. We will be ready to go at home.”

On capitalizing on opportunities:

“We just have to see a couple of goals go in. In Kanas City last weekend, we saw two goals go in and got a win. We need to be more consistent in finding the back of the net because we create chances and are good with the ball. I thought that we were the better team out there in the second half.”
