The Houston Dynamo got their first ever win in Austin in a tight 1-0 game. Let’s take a look at how everyone performed.

Starters

Steve Clark-8

Clark had a very good game, making five saves and keeping a clean sheet. His play out of the back was also up to Steve’s very high standard.

Griffin Dorsey-7

A lot was asked of Dorsey playing right back against one of the strongest left sided players in the league in Sebastian Driussi. Dorsey did an excellent job as well as providing a wide threat offensively.

Erik Sviatchenko-9 (MOTM)

Erik was a rock at the back, stopping Gyasi Zardes from any real scoring chances. His play out of the back was fantastic, acting as an extra midfielder in possession. He also assisted the winning goal.

Micael-9

Like Sviatchenko, Micael also played a monster game at the back, shutting down most of what Austin wanted to do. The play out of the back continues to start with Micael, making 81 touches in this game.

Franco Escobar-9

Franco was one of the best players on the field on both sides of the ball. His defending was fantastic as well as being one of the top chance creators for the Dynamo. He created four shots in this match, third behind Bassi and Aliyu.

Artur-8

Artur was bossing the midfield and doing all the simple things at the highest level. His short passing was excellent as well as his defense. You would like to see him do a bit more when he finds himself in advanced positions like he did a few times in this game.

Coco Carrasquilla-8

Coco once again played Hector’s role and put in another great performance. He was nowhere near as creative as Hector is in terms of chance creation, but his ability to pass in transition was huge in this game. His game winning goal was both a moment of brilliance and luck. You always take those.

Amine Bassi-8

Bassi created loads of scoring opportunities and was a menace off the ball in the pressing game. He whipped in the corner that led to the winning goal of the game by Coco.

Sebastian Kowalczyk-8

Sebastian had one of his best defensive games for the Dynamo making two tackles, along with both a block and interception. He created a few chances and was a calming presence in the attack getting the ball to Bassi and Dorsey consistently throughout.

Aliyu Ibrahim-7

Aliyu did not threaten too much in front of goal himself, but he created tons of chances for his teammates. He created the best chance of the match for Ponce, but unfortunately the striker was unable to convert.

Ezequiel Ponce-6

This was not Ponce’s best game in front of goal, but he did a lot of running off the ball and was very effective in buildup play. It was unfortunate to see him come off early due to injury.

Substitutes

Latif Blessing-3

Latif did not make a huge impact off the bench, only making ten touches before having to be subbed out himself. This was really a nothing game for Latif when the game was crying out for some energy off the bench.

McKinze Gaines-5

McKinze came on with seventeen minutes to play. He barely touched the ball or made any significant impact offensively. He did make a very good defensive play to hold up a counter attack late in the game.

Daniel Steres-5

Steres came in and did exactly what he was asked. No huge impact, but he saw out the game and that’s what really matters.

Brad Smith and Sebastian Ferreira-N/A

Neither played enough minutes to warrant a rating.
