Houston Dynamo at Austin FC staff picks

The Houston Dynamo are on the road for a midweek rivalry match. We asked our staff to weigh in on if the Dynamo can get a win against Austin tonight.

Cristian - 1-1 draw
(Record: 3-8)

A heavy schedule for both will lead to some rotations and could give us a stagnant match. The Dynamo will likely dominate the possession of the ball while Austin has more offensive options in their squad to stay in the game. A draw seems a likely result to me.

Rudy - 2-1 Dynamo loss
(Record: 3-8)

This week I will be the pessimistic one of the bunch. Houston has looked great since Hector Herrera’s return. Yes, even with the early USOC exit. However, while the Dynamo have been great on the road this season, away games are still a challenge in MLS and it is not a secret that Austin sees Houston as their biggest rival and tends to play their best against them.

Manny - 2-2 draw
(Record: 2-9)

After a win over the weekend, the Dynamo have a quick turnaround at Austin. The Dynamo will try to get their first ever win at Q2 Stadium and Austin will try to continue their momentum, starting from the win in Houston a few weeks ago. It will be a tough task for both teams and I could see both rotating lineups and getting a draw.

Joey - 1-1 draw
(Record: 3-8)

Expect some rotation from both sides as both played a game this past Saturday and will have another match this upcoming Saturday. This might be a sloppy game with Austin having the advantage at home. The Dynamo have been exceptional on the road this season, which should make this an even matchup.

Dustyn - 1-1 draw
(Record: 3-8)

After being beaten by Austin at home earlier this year, the Dynamo will look for revenge in the state capital. Both teams are coming off of weekend matches and have matches this Saturday so rotation will be expected. These two teams feel pretty evenly matched and a draw seems like a fair result.

Gribbs - 1-1 draw
(Record 3-5)

Spirits are high for the Dynamo after besting SKC at Children's Mercy Park over the weekend. The return of HH seems to have the team beginning to find their form. However, a tight turn around with another game looming this weekend is a tall order and a draw feels like a positive result at Q2 Stadium.

Billy 2-1 Dynamo win
(Record 4-7)

The healthier Hector Herrera gets, the better the Dynamo look. With recent strong performances on the road, the Dynamo will look to take advantage of an Austin FC squad that has struggled to find any sort of consistency in the early going. I'm looking for the Dynamo to take an early lead and work their possession game magic to wear their opposition down.
