Houston Dynamo at Columbus Crew staff picks

Can the Dynamo get a result in Columbus against the Crew? We asked our staff for their predictions on today’s match.

Cristian - 2-0 Dynamo loss
(Record: 1-1)

The Dynamo seem to be continuing to try and figure things out while Columbus is one of the best teams in the league, even without their full attacking trident from last year. Even with their minds being possibly set on LAFC in Concacaf Champions up, I believe that Columbus has enough talent to hold their own at home against this transitioning Dynamo side.

Rudy - 1-0 Dynamo loss
(Record: 0-2)

Unfortunately, while the Houston Dynamo should improve from last week’s loss to Inter Miami, their losing streak will likely continue. Even with Wilfried Nancy rotating his squad ahead of the Champions Cup match against Los Angeles, Columbus’ depth should be enough to overcome Houston.

Joey - 1-1 draw
(Record: 0-2)

Columbus are coming off a midweek defeat to LAFC, making them both vulnerable and tired. The Dynamo found plenty of success on the road last season by taking points off multiple top teams. Expect this to be a gritty game where the Dynamo can escape with what would be a very good point against a good Crew team.

Dustyn - 2-0 Dynamo loss
(Record: 1-1)

The tough start to the season continues for the Dynamo with a trip to Columbus to take on the Crew. Columbus did have to travel to Los Angeles midweek for Champions Cup play and got stomped 3-0. They have the second leg of that tie on Tuesday so there could be some rotation for Wilfried Nancy’s side. With all of that said, it’s still a very tough matchup for a Dynamo team that still seems to be trying to figure things out.

Manny - 3-1 Dynamo loss
(Record 1-1)

Many will say that Dynamo have the upper hand since they don’t compete in the CONCACAF Champions Cup, but I’ll say that it’s the opposite. Columbus may have lost in midweek but they are unbeaten in league play. The Crew haven’t skipped a beat despite a major rehaul, while the Dynamo are still lost in many aspects of their game. It could be another humbling defeat for the Dynamo until Houston can take a good look at themselves and begin to figure things out.
