Houston Dynamo at LAFC - Staff picks

The Houston Dynamo take on LAFC in tonight’s Western Conference final. We asked our staff to weigh in on how they see the Dynamo and LAFC playing out tonight.

Cristian - 2-1 Dynamo win

Being here for the dynamo is already a win. LAFC on the other hand have a title to defend, in front of their fans. Dynamo play pretty soccer and being the underdog will hopefully benefit them in the sense that they won’t be rushed or are expected to do much in this game giving them the freedom to play their game.

Rudy -3-2 Dynamo win

This has been the most difficult match to breakdown and have any kind of prediction. Houston successfully beat LAFC both home and away this season in a 4 day span. But this is the playoffs, completely different animal. I think that Houston will win in a high scoring game that could possibly extend into extra time.

Manny - 1-0 Dynamo win

Dynamo has won twice against LAFC in the regular season. During the regular season, it played in dynamo’s hand facing an exhausted and injured LAFC team. Now LAFC is back with Dennis Bouanga, Carlos Vela and Cristian Olivera being a major threat, but their midfield and especially their slow defense seems unconvincing. Dynamo in the other hand has been solid in the midfield and being well disciplined defensively that can keep LAFC at bay. Dynamo has enough to deal with LAFC in regular time, now it’s up to dynamo to show up nownow

Joey - 1-1 draw and LAFC win in penalties

Gribbs - 1-0 Dynamo win

Dustyn - 2-0 LAFC win

I’ve been known as the pessimist among our staff all season so why stop now? Maybe I can jinx it. But honestly, I just think this LAFC team is too talented and are fully healthy and in amazing form. If the Dynamo can find an early goal, I think it could change the trajectory of the match. If LAFC can grab a goal in the first 30 minutes, I think they have the experience and the players to see out a result.
