HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH BEN OLSEN

On the result:

“We just tied them on the road. You lose a penalty shootout, okay, but you get yourself a point, and you live to fight another day at home against a good team with Santos Laguna coming in. If we win that one, I think we're in pretty good shape.”

On having Coco Carrasquilla and Héctor Herrera:

“It’s nice. It's nice to have (Coco Carrasquilla) and Héctor (Herrera). One left for a while, and one left for a week. It was nice to have the gang back together. It increases our depth and our options. Obviously, they're pivotal to what we're doing here at Houston, both players. It was nice to get them a little bit of a blow today. I can anticipate them playing more minutes Tuesday at home. We’re looking forward to that match. We know it's a very good team coming into town, but we've played pretty good at home. The goal tonight was to get one, two or three points, so you can control your destiny a little bit when you come home. We’ve got a quick turnaround. Because we're one of the lowest seeds in the tournament, they get the rest, everybody gets the rest, and we get to, uh, quickly turn around and play another match.”

On the tactical approach:

“For the most part, it was okay. We planned to have a little bit more of the ball, and I thought it was a night where we just didn't connect enough passes. At times, we’re hitting the home run ball when it's a hot game. We just cost ourselves a lot of work defensively because we complicated the game, or we were just a little bit off in the passing. To a man, it just wasn't a great night for us passing and connecting the game. When you can't do that, you can't go the other way. But we had opportunities, and they had opportunities. They certainly had more down the stretch in the second half. We got tired mostly because we couldn't deal with the ball, hold on to longer possession. They did a better job of that. That added up throughout the game. However, we held the fort well. We made some saves, defended the box well and defended some of the set pieces. It’s not easy coming on the road in MLS, and to come here and get a tie, I'm proud of that. It wasn't our best night soccer-wise, but on nights where we're not playing at our best and we don't have our full group out there, it’s still nice to get a point.”

HOUSTON DYNAMO MIDFIELDER ADALBERTO CARRASQUILLA (TRANSLATED FROM SPANISH)

On his first game with the team since returning from the Gold Cup:

“Well, I felt good in the few minutes I played tonight. Very happy to be back with the team and well, the goal is to connect as quickly as possible and contribute to the team whatever is necessary to move forward in this tournament.”

On the keys to Tuesday’s game:

“We're playing at home. You have to take advantage of that, take the game to the opponent and create opportunities, just take advantage of it. We will have two or three days to prepare for the game and will do so in the best way.”
