Houston Dynamo at Portland Timbers staff picks

The Dynamo are back on the road under the bright lights of Sunday Night Soccer. We asked our staff for their predictions on tonight’s match against the Portland Timbers.

Cristian - 2-1 Dynamo win
(Record: 1-4)

Road warriors. The combination of being good on the road and the announcement of new signings, which hopefully will ignite the fire of competition amongst some of the attacking players, might be just enough to step into a tough stadium and come out with a win at the end of the 90 minutes.

Rudy - 2-1 Dynamo loss
(Record: 0-5)

Houston got the job done last week despite facing significant adversity against a Seattle squad also dealing with injuries. However, heading into Providence Park to face a resurgent Timbers team will be a tough challenge. Ben Olsen will have his team prepared, but I predict Portland will capitalize on the hostile environment and their turf advantage to secure a home win.

Joey - 2-1 Dynamo win
(Record: 2-3)

The Dynamo have been successful in Portland since Ben Olsen’s arrival. They are starving for a win and it’s looking more likely that we’ll see that happen on the road given the better performances than at home. Portland have been the most hit or miss team in MLS since Phil Neville took over last season. There’s always a possibility that Portland has one of those games where the Dynamo get demolished.

Dustyn - 2-0 Dynamo loss
(Record: 1-4)

Portland seems to be getting healthy and finding its form at the wrong time for the Dynamo. Until this Houston team can start scoring goals, I’m hesitant to see them competing against the better teams in Major League Soccer.

Manny - 4-1 Dynamo loss
(Record 1-4)

Injuries will undoubtedly impact this team's performance this weekend. The Dynamo must find a sense of urgency to overcome a Portland side that is thriving with new signings like David Da Costa and other players hitting their stride. I just don’t see the Dynamo getting a result.
