HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH BEN OLSEN
On the performance away from home:
"This was certainly our most complete effort and just a really good night on both sides of the ball. Scored good goals, had other opportunities. For most of the game, we defended pretty well. The subs came in and helped out as (Real Salt Lake) put a lot of attack on and they threw a lot of numbers forward. We needed subs to come in and counter that. They did a very good job of closing out the game. It was professional, disciplined and an important three points for us."
On Aliyu Ibrahim playing wide in this game:
“He did well, created some chances. I'm happy for him that he gets an assist. In some ways maybe it takes a little pressure off him. Putting him out wide, he's comfortable in that spot. He played many minutes for his last team in that role, more of a winger. So we asked him to do different things on the defensive end. But offensively it's a natural spot for him because he's played probably more minutes there on that right wing in his previous clubs."
On defender Brad Smith:
"It is great when guys come back from injuries and get their first start and really just help the team out and he had a good game. ACLs are a beast that can take quite a while to come back from and get the form back. Tonight was a huge step for him, and Luis (Caicedo) had a good shift. Hector (Herrera) played a good 45 minutes. He was always coming out of 45 and Arturo was going to finish the game. Fortunately, we were up, that sub made sense. Ethan (Bartlow) and Daniel (Steres) came in and got minutes. They've been chomping at the bit to get on the field. Eric (Sviatchenko) and Micael have been healthy through the last month or so. They're not getting the minutes that they probably deserved. Tonight was a good chance for them to show that they are in the conversation to start. So it's great. It builds depth, it builds camaraderie when everybody can help out and get results in a very, very tough place to visit, historically."
HOUSTON DYNAMO DEFENDER DANIEL STERES
On the match:
“The group is feeling good. A good result against RSL, two in one week. We are feeling confident. We played well tonight. We deserved at least the win. Getting a 3-0 shutout is the emphasis on that. As far as my goal, we'll take them when I can get them as long as they help the team.”
On being ready to enter or start a game after not playing a lot of minutes:
"Tonight you saw a lot of guys come in who haven't played in a while. For me, the last one was in Colorado (July 15). Other than a couple of minutes here and there with Leagues Cup and stuff like that. To see a group step in and do the job they did tonight in a tough environment, in altitude here, really shows what kind of group we got. Everyone's ready to step up whenever they're asked to going into this playoff run. We've got a deep team, and we proved that tonight that guys are staying ready."
