HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH BEN OLSEN
On the result:
“I’m super proud of the group. It’s been a long week, and we challenged each other to be a better team and worked to make sure we were resembling the team that had success last year. This was our most complete performance. We were brave on the ball, and when we were in possession, we had a renewed commitment to look after each other. Our defensive effort is what we hung our hats on last year, and tonight there was a renewed effort there too. Not to mention, it was nice to score some goals tonight.”
On what Hector Herrera’s return means to the club:
“Each game he’s gotten better, which is great for a player of his caliber. What I saw today was nice. The relationship between Héctor, Artur, Coco and Bassi looks like the old days. Hopefully we can continue that and push his minutes in a smart way. We didn’t sign him to score that type of goal, but it was a classy goal.”
On Griffin Dorsey’s performance:
“This was Griffin’s best game of the year. It hasn't been the greatest start for him, and he will tell you that. Getting on the scoreboard on Tuesday night helped him. Today, he was calmer, and his final product looked more like himself. It’s a big deal for us because Griffin is a huge part of how we go about winning games.”
HOUSTON DYNAMO DEFENDER GRIFFIN DORSEY
On the result:
“It’s a great result for the team. After the Open Cup game, we sat as a team and said, ‘this is a big moment for us.’ We knew it could be a turnaround situation. We came out with that mentality tonight, and it’s good to get an away result.”
On his assist:
“Anyone watching that play should also watch Steve (Clark’s) ball placement. He put it in the perfect spot for me. As that ball is coming to me, I’m thinking that I can put it in front of the defender and pick the right pass at the right time. I was fortunate enough to have Aliyu (Ibrahim) on the far side to finish it off.”
On the carmaraderie of the team:
“It’s something special. We show up for one another, and it is so special. This a selfless team, and we are all willing to give for each other, which is beautiful.”
