Houston Dynamo at Sporting Kansas City - Staff picks
The Houston Dynamo are on the road to meet an old foe in Sporting Kansas City. Houston will look to keep its unbeaten run going as the Dynamo get ever closer to getting back in to the MLS Cup playoffs. We asked our staff to weigh in on how they see the Dynamo and SKC playing out tonight.
Cristian - Win
I’m high on this team. I could possibly go one by one and tell you why these players give me confidence for a win in Kansas City, but I won’t bore you to death with that. SKC has been inconsistent this year, at this moment they are out of a playoff spot. This is why I believe Houston Dynamo, even very well rotated given the final during the week, will bring the three points back home to the H.
Rudy - Draw
Alright, I picked a draw for Wednesday's match and the Dynamo played really well against a Vancouver team that was on a high. Now while Houston has been decent on the road as of late, Kansas City has always been a tough place for visitors. Sporting did lose at home midweek, but I believe that we will see a number of changes to Houston’s lineup as they get ready for the US Open Cup Final. I think a draw is the most likely result here.
Manny - Win
Momentum is on the Dynamo’s side. The Dynamo have gotten results from top teams in the west and shown they can make a huge run at the end of the season. SKC has suffered some bad losses at home and with three key players out, it will be hard for them to handle an in form Dynamo team.
Joey - Win
2-1 win. The Dynamo have been in unbeatable form over the last month while SKC has been very up and down. The Dynamo have shown against RSL that even with resting players they can still get a result on the road and they will do just that.
Gribbs - Draw
With a midweek win under Ben Olsen's belt, his attention shifts toward the most immediate silverware and that's next week's US Open Cup Final. Not to say this isn't a winnable game against a typical rival, but it would be a good opportunity for other players to get minutes, especially with the cushion of the midweek win. Sporting Kansas City are relatively low in the standings in the West at 11th, but can jump up quickly which should provide for their own motivation. A draw feels right given the weighted attention of a trophy and need for points by the opposition, but the quality of play at the moment should level things on the road at Children's Mercy Park.
Dustyn - Draw
I think Olsen rotates the lineup fairly heavily tonight with the Open Cup final Wednesday and a Texas Derby next Saturday. If Pulido is out for Sporting KC, that will be a big blow to their offense. I could definitely see the Dynamo sitting back and defending, happy to go home with a 0-0 draw and a point.
