Houston Dynamo player ratings at LAFC

The Dynamo went to Los Angeles and finished the sweep over LAFC, this time beating them 1-0. Let’s take a look at how everyone performed.

Starters

Steve Clark-6

Steve got himself yet another shut out. He was not asked to do a whole lot, being he only made one save.

Griffin Dorsey-8

Coming in for his first MLS start since the second game of the season, Dorsey put in a great performance. He dominated his side of the field defensively while being very effective going forward.

Erik Sviatchenko-9

Erik continues to be a massive leader in the backline for the Dynamo. He dealt with everything that came his way to near perfection. He was especially dominant in the air, winning all of his aerial duels.

Micael-9

Micael put in another man of the match performance as he continued his incredible form. He was everywhere defensively, making nine clearances and five combined tackles and interceptions. He capped off his amazing night by scoring the winning goal.

Daniel Steres-8

Being deployed at left back once again, Steres put in another great defensive shift. He had a tough opponent with Stipe Biuk and Carlos Vela running down his side, and he shut them down to invisible performances.

Artur-8

Another incredible display from Artur, playing great defense in the midfield. Not the best passing game from Artur, but that was also partly due to the way the game played out.

Luis Caicedo-7

Coming in for Coco Carrasquilla, Luis had another good game partnering Artur in defensive midfield. He has such a good way of quietly doing the dirty work and the simple aspects of the game very well. Like Artur, not the greatest passing night, but it was to be expected due to the game’s script.

Hector Herrera-8

Hector was deployed in this game a bit higher up the field than he usually is. He did a great job as the second striker off the ball when it came to pressing. As always, Hector was the heartbeat of the team and when he plays well the Dynamo often get a result.

Amine Bassi-5

A much quieter night for Bassi than we have been used to lately. Playing back out wide, he struggled to get very involved in the game. He did create what should have been the second goal, but it was ruled offside.

Nelson Quinones-7

Nelson terrified the LAFC defense once again with his direct play and speed. He was the most impactful forward on the day, being the only one being aggressive and creating openings. His defensive work was also very good.

Aliyu Ibrahim-5

Not a whole lot going for Aliyu when it came to the offensive part of his game. He did score a goal that was ruled offside, but other than that he was fairly quiet. Like Nelson, his defensive work was also very good.

Substitutes

Corey Baird-5

Like Aliyu, Baird came on and struggled to get involved in the offense. He tracked back a ton, per usual, and helped see out the game.

Ivan Franco-6

Barely even seeing the ball in his 18 minutes on the field, Franco put in a great shift defensively. He was almost playing as a fullback for many moments in this game. A great effort from Franco, but he did struggle progressing the ball late on.

Thor Ulfarsson-3

Thor looked extremely poor with his limited time on the field. He had multiple opportunities to hold up the ball and waste more time, but he kept cheaply turning over the ball.

Head Coach

Ben Olsen-9

Ben set up the team perfectly while not having Franco Escobar and Coco available. It was a bold decision to go with Dorsey against such a strong offense, but it worked out perfectly. The team continues to fight for Ben and pour their heart and soul into the game for 90 minutes. That is a sign of terrific coaching and having a strong mentality in the team.
