Houston Dynamo player ratings vs Colorado Rapids
The Houston Dynamo achieved their biggest win of the season, beating the Colorado Rapids by a score of 3-1. Let’s take a look at how everyone performed.
Starters
Andrew Tarbell-9
Tarbell made a whopping ten saves in this match against a dangerous Rapids attack. A few of these saves were incredibly impressive while a lot were fairly routine thanks to the great defense. He did give away a penalty leading to the Rapids’ equalizer which takes his score down from a perfect ten and loses him my Man of The Match.
Griffin Dorsey-8
Dorsey continued his fine run of form with another assist. His play in transition, particularly in the second half, was a massive component to the team’s dominance. Defensively, he was not challenged too much, even when Mihailovic drifted wide.
Erik Sviatchenko-4
This wasn’t a great outing for Sviatchenko. He looked completely gassed in the second half, leading to his substitution. In the first half, the Rapids continued to test Tarbell over and over. His ability to close down the Rapids’ forwards created a situation where Tarbell had to make a double save.
Micael-5
Micael had an awful first 60 minutes of the game where he had multiple bad giveaways and misjudged a pass leading to the penalty Tarbell gave away. The last 30 minutes however, Micael was outstanding, making some great passes to start the devastating counter attacks.
Franco Escobar-6
Franco made his first start in quite a bit of time and certainly didn’t look out of place. He did not particularly stand out in the 45 minutes he played, but he did his job quite well. Kevin Cabral gave him a few problems, but nothing too dangerous.
Artur-5
Artur had a fairly weak performance where he looked a bit tired and sluggish. He was not the usual Artur we are used to seeing. He definitely will need a rest sometime soon as he continues to play almost every available minute.
Hector Herrera-7
Hector was smart to take up a deeper role in the second half once the game opened up to dictate the counter attacks and be there to defend the Rapids. He came close to creating a goal for Svitachenko and scoring himself late in the second half.
Amine Bassi-8
Bassi got himself another goal from open play, which is something the Dynamo have desperately needed from him. He was the most creative player on the field, as usual, creating five shots. His work in the second half to combine with Aliyu and Kowalczyk was massive in scoring the last two goals.
Coco Carrasquilla-7
It seems like Coco is at a point where we keep getting these really solid but not great performances from him. He worked extremely hard to set up Dorsey to assist the opening goal of the game. He had a few chances himself to nearly score. Overall, a good night for Coco.
Aliyu Ibrahim-9 (MOTM)
That was easily Aliyu’s best showing yet in a Dynamo shirt. His play in transition was insanely efficient, leading to chance after chance. It was shocking that it took until the 80th minute for him to finally be credited with an assist. His work off the ball was superb as well. The only thing he could have done better was score himself.
Sebastian Kowalczyk-8
Sebastian also had one of his best performances this season, finally ending his seven-game goal drought. He took up some really good positions in the second half, combining with Aliyu and Bassi very effectively. His finish was superb, beating Zack Steffen from distance.
Substitutes
Daniel Steres-6
Daniel came on at halftime for Escobar and put in a pretty standard performance. He quietly went about his business, helping the team achieve all three points.
Latif Blessing-7
Latif came in and gave the exact energy the Dynamo needed in that moment. He was excellent on and off the ball and scored an incredible game winner on the volley.
Ethan Bartlow-8
Ethan came in to steady the ship after Sviatchenko had a rough game. Ethan barely put a foot wrong and allowed nothing from the Colorado attackers. His play out of the back was also superb.
Brooklyn Raines and Tate Schmitt-N/A
Neither player came on with enough time to make a real impact. Raines looked really impressive and nearly scored and created a goal.
Head Coach
Juan Guerra-10
When an assistant coach has to step up to the plate and his team puts in one of the best performances of the season, can you not give him a ten? As we know, the coaching staff does a ton of work to assist Ben Olsen on a weekly basis and we are very happy to see Juan rewarded with a sweet victory.
