Houston Dynamo player ratings vs FC Dallas

The Houston Dynamo gained a point at home against FC Dallas in a 1-1 draw. Let’s take a look at how everyone performed.

Starters

Steve Clark-6

Steve Clark had a fine game in net once again, making two saves. There was not a whole lot he could have done to impact the game in a meaningful way. When attackers get into that cutback position, that is the worst situation a goalkeeper will find themselves in. Hopefully his nose injury is not too serious.

Griffin Dorsey-6

Dorsey played really good defensively, but the attacking side of his game was lacking for most of the match. He had plenty of crossing opportunities that never challenged the FC Dallas defense. There was not much he could have done on the goal that was conceded.

Erik Sviatchenko-8

Erik had another dominant game at the back where FC Dallas barely had a sniff of goal for large periods of time. He showed some pace in his ability to defend in transition. His distribution was excellent as always, completing some really difficult forward passes. He continues to be a massive threat on set pieces and surely, another goal is coming soon.

Micael-7

Micael continues to look like a future star at center back with yet another composed performance. His ability to cutoff passing lanes was on full display with his team-high four interceptions. He bit way too hard on the pass from Petar Musa in the buildup to the goal, leaving Sviatchenko in an awkward position.

Daniel Steres-9 (MOTM)

Dan looked like he has been playing left back his entire career with one of his best performances in Orange. Defensively, he was unstoppable shutting down Dallas’s right side all game. Going forward, he was able to combine and create chances resulting in the Dynamo goal.

Artur-8

This was your usual Artur performance. There is not a whole to talk about with Artur as he just continues to do the boring stuff at such a high level. The only real negative was that he nearly took off Steve Clark’s head.

Hector Herrera-8

Hector looks like he is getting very close to his healthy self from last season. He was at the heart of everything positive for the Dynamo. He set up so many opportunities throughout the game. He also played a big role in winning the ball back. His pass to Steres to open the scoring was perfectly weighted and shows how badly the team needs his skill.

Amine Bassi-8

Bassi just keeps on impressing with his playmaking ability and now he has scored his first goal of the season. His ability to combine with teammates around the box has improved so much from last season and he is beginning to find himself on the end of more opportunities in open play.

Coco Carrasquilla-4

Coco had yet another lackluster game where he looked incredible in moments and gives goals away the next. He tried too hard at times, and it led to FC Dallas’s equalizing goal. Sometimes he just needs to slow the game down and make the right decisions.

Aliyu Ibrahim-6

Aliyu put in another shift where he was a menace off the ball to any defenders looking to build out of the back. His play in the transition game was excellent and led to some opportunities. Not many good chances fell his way, unfortunately.

Sebastian Kowalczyk-4

Kowalczyk continues to see little action on the ball and in meaningful areas of the field. He had a few nice moments of combination play with Coco and Bassi, but it was not enough.

Substitutes

Latif Blessing-5

Latif came into the game for Sebastian Kowalczyk to shift around the attacking personnel. He failed to create anything of note or make a huge impact on the game. His pressing work was excellent, however.

Andrew Tarbell-N/A

Andrew came in for Steve Clark when he had a nose injury. Andrew did not face a single shot on target, so it is hard to give him a real rating.

Tate Schmitt, McKinze Gaines, and Gabe Segal-N/A

All three players came on super late with not enough time to make a huge contribution. Hopefully, Gaines is alright after suffering a hamstring injury just a few minutes after being subbed on.

Head Coach

Ben Olsen-6

Olsen put out the best team available to him once again and got a decent shift out of them. As he continues to say, they are dominating games and doing a lot of the hard things well, but just can not put these games to bed at the moment.
