HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH BEN OLSEN
On the result and the performance:
“The result was disappointing, but our performance was good. There was enough there to win the game here at home tonight, and our preseason work translated into creating more dangerous opportunities in front of goal.”
On Jack McGlynn’s growth so far:
“Tonight might be the first time in his career where he’s really pulling the strings. It’s a new responsibility for him, but he’s not fazed by it. He is excited about this opportunity to be on the ball and make the plays for us. Our staff is looking forward to helping him grow and getting him to where he needs to be, including solidifying his role on the national team.”
On his message to the fans:
“We appreciate them coming out and giving us energy tonight. The guys fought until the very end and gave everything they had. That’s never a problem here at home. These Dynamo fans are loyal and know that we will come back stronger and fix the mistakes that cost us.”
HOUSTON DYNAMO MIDFIELDER JACK MCGLYNN
On his first minutes with the team:
“I thought it was solid. During the first game, you are still getting used to everybody, the field and the stadium. Taking all of that in, it was a pretty good personal performance, but it means nothing without the three points.”
On how he has adapted to the team:
“Adapting here has been pretty easy for me. It’s kind of similar to how I play with the national team, so I was used to playing as one of two in the middle. Playing with (midfielder) Artur definitely helps. He's a class player in this league, and he's played a lot of games, so he has definitely kind of taken me under his wing and showed me how we play here. The system suits me as a player. Tonight, I was on the ball a lot trying to make things happen, so I think it'll be a very good season for me and for the team”
