HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH BEN OLSEN

On the match:

“I’m proud of the way we played. We probably needed to stick the knife in and win 3-1. They had a lot of crosses, which were hard to defend, but there is no excuse to concede on the corner at the end. I’m disappointed in the result, but I thought we played great against a very good team. There are definitely some positives, but it still stings.”

On Ezequiel Ponce’s performance:

"Ezequiel (Ponce) is exactly who we thought he would be. He’s a winner. Even without the ball, he’s going to push our team forward. It was great for him to get his goal because he missed two chances earlier in the match, which I know he was disappointed about. But his character showed through when he hung in there and found the back of the net.”

On moving forward:

"Ezequiel (Ponce) is exactly who we thought he would be. He’s a winner. Even without the ball, he’s going to push our team forward. It was great for him to get his goal because he missed two chances earlier in the match, which I know he was disappointed about. But his character showed through when he hung in there and found the back of the net.”

On his thoughts on Leagues Cup:

“This match was wild and entertaining. These Leagues Cup games are wide open and there are a lot of goals. I’m disappointed for the guys that we’re not moving on, because they gave a lot of effort tonight, but we’ll get back to work”
