Three Players to Watch: LAFC

Each week we’ll be looking more into the Houston Dynamo’s opponent, talking to media that covers the team, digging into what we can expect from that squad, and in this series, taking a look at three players to watch from the upcoming opponent. The Dynamo are back home this weekend to take on LAFC. Here are three names to watch in this match:

Denis Bouanga

The 2023 Golden Boot winner and one of the most electrifying forwards in MLS, Bouanga has displayed similar flair in LAFC’s Concacaf Champions Cup campaign this year. However, he has yet to find the back of the net in the MLS regular season through his first five games. Houston, a team that has struggled to defend against transition play, will have its hands full with Bouanga’s speed and technical ability. He stands out as the most dangerous player in LAFC’s squad—exactly the type to capitalize on defensive lapses and make opponents pay.

Nathan Ordaz

The 21-year-old striker made headlines with his lone goal that took down Messi and company in the Champions Cup earlier this week. An energetic forward, he brings valuable depth to LAFC and can make an impact off the bench.

Cengiz Ünder

LAFC’s latest solution to their ongoing search for a reliable Bouanga co-star—a challenge they've faced since the days of Carlos Vela and Chicho Arango—Ünder brings experience and quality to the attack. The skilled winger has already recorded a goal and an assist in five matches across all competitions. Strong and technical, he’s poised to give opposing fullbacks a tough time in this matchup.
