The Volt League season rolled on with Week 6 in the books. Let’s look back at how it all went down.

Frankfurt 4-0 AC Juniors

Frankfurt found their way back to the win column after two straight losses. In their way was a short handed AC Juniors that held on as much as they could, even finishing the first half only down by one goal. A hat trick by Funez and one goal by Reyes was the four goals that would send the champs to a 4-0 defeat and help Frankfurt Athletic earn three points tp keep scaling up on the table.

Frankfurt will have a tough match ahead as they face the current leaders MAFC this weekend. AC Juniors will face off againsy bottom of the table Seinfeld.

FC Nightwatch 5-3 International SC

The Blue Owls were looking for some redemption after a devastating loss and Inter SC came in with back to back wins. Even after going down to ten men early on in the match, Inter struck first with a goal from Castellanos. Figueroa tied it up for the Owls quickly after with a penalty kick. Ambriz Jr. then got Inter back on top in the 34th minute with a banger from way down the field. The Owls got another penalty kick and the game got back to an even match going into the dying minutes of the first half. The tides changed in the 41st minute Leo Medina made it 3-2 for Nightwatch. Early in the second half, Inter tedi it up once again from the penalty spot to make it 3-3. Would you believe me if I told you there was another penalty in this match? Because there was. Night Watch got their chance on the feet of Figueroa, but goalkeeper Carlos Lopez made a great save to keep things level, spoiling the hat trick for the Owl’s player. Medina struck again in the 79th to put Nightwatch up 4-3 as the match was coming to an end. Just as it seemed like Inter might find the equalizer, Medina found the ball in the box and got his hat trick on his Volt League debut to solidify this win for the Blue Owls.

Nightwatch will look to keep the momentum going as they face a great challenger in Ghosttown Saints. Inter will be taking on another team who wants to keep their winning streak in Houstonians FC.

Ghosttown Saints 8-1 FC Seinfeld

When you say Ghosttown Saints you have to also say the names Ayoka and Sammy Ekp. With a brace for each of them in the first half, they showed everyone why they are a deadly force in the attacking third for the Saints. Seinfeld seemed like they would attempt to turn things around in the second half when Flores found the back of the net after a solo run to give the Goats their only goal of the match. But, the goals would keep coming for the Nigerians and this time around they would add Ibe to the rotation of goal scorers. Ibe finished the second half with a brace of his own and Ayoka completed his hat trick The Nigerians banded together and left the Goats in the dust at the bottom of the table.

GTS will attempt to continue their climb up the table as they take on Nightwatch this weekend. Seinfeld will look to add three points when they take on wounded AC Juniors.

Greenflag 0-5 MAFC

This was another great showing by MAFC, this time against a rival that on paper looked like it would give them a run for their money. Both teams came into this game fighting for the top spot in the table and were looking to create numerical distance between each other. Velazquez opened up the scoring in the 15th minute and later added a second goal in the 25th to double the lead. The 75th minute brought the third goal via Luis Cunemo with a banger. Cunemo grabbed another in the 81st minute. To reflect on what the night turned out to be for Greenflag FC, they scored and own goal in the 88th minute for the fifth goal for MAFC.

Greenflag will face Houston Rovers on Sunday. MAFC will be looking to push farther away from the competition by taking on Frankfurt.

Houstonians FC 6-2 Houston Rovers

Rovers struck very early in the match with a great finish by Escobar in the first minute. Only a few minutes later, in the 10th minute, Bali got the second for Rovers. After that, it was all down hill for Rovers. Houstonians found their way back in the match and would score 6 unanswered goals. Davila started the comeback with a great finish after a pass by Nelson Jr. in minute 15. Houstonians continued to pressure high up the field and converted a turnover into the a tying goal in the 25th minute from Kevin. Nelson Jr. got a goal of his own in the 39th minute with a bomb from outside the box to put Houstonians ahead. Nelson then got his second late in the second half to separate the two teams. Houstonians proved to be a little stronger than what everyone thought and would get two more right before the end of the match to make the score line 6-2.

Houstonians will look to keep their winning form when they take on Inter SC this weekend. Rovers plays Greenflag as they look to get back in the winner’s column.
