Real Momentum Building

Despite one win and one loss so far this season, the Dash are gaining momentum early. They have been on the front foot in both games in terms of possession and attacking play. The league and Dash fans are impressed with how well the team is performing, especially given the new set of players and organizational changes. Head coach Fabrice Gautrat has repeatedly emphasized that they are building a winning culture, and the team's performances suggest the results will continue improving.

Player Recognition

As the Dash continue to make waves in the league, their players are starting to receive the recognition they deserve. The player everyone is talking about this week is rookie midfielder Maggie Graham. She has scored in back-to-back games off the bench and is currently tied for the NWSL Golden Boot very early in the season. Another player earning admiration is Avery Patterson, a standout from last season who is maintaining strong performances this year. Patterson received her first call up to the senior United States Women’s National Team this week for upcoming matches against Brazil. There are many other players worthy of recognition, and that just goes to show how well this Dash team is performing overall.

Rocky Start for Gotham

The 2023 NWSL champions, Gotham FC, have had one of their slowest starts to the season. With one loss and one draw, it hasn’t been the ideal beginning, but this was somewhat expected after a significant overhaul of their roster. Losing key players like Crystal Dunn, Lynn Biyendolo (formerly Williams), Jenna Nighswonger, and, of course, Yazmeen Ryan and Delanie Sheehan to the Dash has left a noticeable gap. Although Gotham has brought in new talent to fill these departures, it seems they are still adjusting. Tonight’s match presents an excellent opportunity for the Dash to continue building on their momentum.
