HOUSTON DASH ASSISTANT COACH RICKY CLARKE

On the match:

“It is nice to continue the winning streak. We spoke about building on the good things we've done recently. Tonight was another opportunity for us to do that. We perhaps got a little bit sloppy in the second half, but you know, overall, very impressed with the ability to rotate players. We created a lot of chances. Perhaps the score line wasn't a reflection of the amount of chances and the quality of chances we created.”

On the team’s experience in the tournament:

“The tournament was an opportunity for us to make sure we get everyone minutes. If you look at the game, if you look at all the games, we played pretty much every one that was available to us. So, from that perspective, we learned a lot about the entire roster. We also learned a lot about different styles of play as well. Tonight was very different from a normal NWSL game, teams don't set off you, they don't give you space, they don't give you time. Tonight, we found loads of time and space, which is a little bit unusual for us. So as a team, it helps our growth and how we develop. We learned a lot about ourselves and the roster.”

On the upcoming break prior to the match versus Orlando:

“There are no days off. We have a rest day tomorrow, and then we just keep going. We build towards the next game, which is Orlando. There's a plan in place, in terms of what we want to achieve during this period before Orlando. So, for us tomorrow, it'll be a day off, a little bit of rest and recovery. Then straight back to work on Saturday. We'll come back and look at the game. Start to talk about the objectives leading into Orlando and there's a plan in place for that game as well. So, for us it doesn't stop, but it's all about planning and making sure we prepare ourselves properly for Orlando. We know right now they're one of the best teams in the league and we need to be at our best.”

HOUSTON DASH FORWARD DIANA ORDONEZ

On the victory:

“The team has worked hard during this window, a lot of players are gone for the Olympics, with their national teams. To get back-to-back wins at home is something we haven't done in a long time, I am really proud of the team for pulling together and securing the victory tonight.”

On wearing the captain’s armband:

“Wearing the captain's band was a prayer answered, something I’ve desired to do since I have been in the league. My personality is to be a leader, and to do that with such a talented team is such an honor. I’m glad that my coach and team trust me, and it felt great to get a win with the armband.”

On preparing for the next league match:

“It’s a solid time for us to prepare and reflect on the games we just played and continue to build that identity. This is going to be the biggest thing moving forward. We need that time for everybody to get back and integrate, but we’re all looking forward to it. We have a lot of training days ahead.”

On what the team can accomplish in the second half of the season:

“This is a talented team. Obviously, we are overlooked because of the results we've had in the past. I don’t think Houston has the best reputation in terms of winning games at home. I don’t want this team to hang its head, we have so much talent across the board, from the back to the front. As you all saw our number two keeper (Heather Hinz) just came up huge, that game could’ve been tied within minutes. I think it shows our players are ready when their name is called. A lot of players gone are gone, it has helped us grow and we are gaining more of an identity than we have had before. We want to make teams adjust to what we’re doing, not so much of us having to adjust every time we play a new team.”
