HOUSTON DASH ASSISTANT COACH RICKY CLARKE
On the match:
“This is a disappointing result. When I look back at the game, I will probably realize that I got the wrong game plan. I felt like at times, we were a little bit too open. We gave away too much space to a team that's very well organized, very quick, very athletic. Credit to Utah, they played really good football tonight. When I look back and analyze the game, I will probably conclude that the game was my fault, and I probably set us up in the wrong shape and perhaps had some of the wrong objectives.”
On Andressa Alves:
“She works incredibly hard, and I think she gets rewarded tonight because of how hard she worked."
On the team’s defensive performance:
“After the third goal, there was an injury, and we spoke to the players. One of the things we said was, regardless of the score, right now, we always play for the badge. That means winning our next tackles, winning the next 10 minutes, winning our individual battles. It was a group that was wounded but continued to do the things we talked about, turn up, try and change a game, and in the last 10 to 15 minutes of the game, I think they did a good job of trying to change the momentum. That comes from little moments, tackles, blocking shots, blocking passes. I think you saw that tonight of all the players. The players that came on and try to change again, even the players that left the game early, I think there was still a mentality that they were going to work incredibly hard for each other.”
HOUSTON DASH DEFENDER NATALIE JACOBS
On the game:
"Obviously disappointed to not get the win. We just have to continue working on the things we can work on, building on the things that were positive in the game and sticking together.”
On the team continuing to push late in the game:
“It was great to see everybody continue to fight. We really got to lean on each other now more than ever.”
On the upcoming two game road trip:
"We got to work on the things that we can get from that game, find the positives in it and keep holding each other together, lifting each other up. We're going to need every single person on this team to be there for one another.”
