The Houston Dynamo will look to ride the momentum from last week’s win over LAFC, their first of the season, as they take on another Los Angeles club. The LA Galaxy are winless in 2025, coming off winning MLS Cup last season. The Galaxy played Tuesday, losing 3-2 to Tigres to be eliminated from the Concacaf Champions Cup.

Another Addition

Friday, the Dynamo announced another new addition to the squad, signing English goalkeeper Jonathan Bond from Watford FC. Bond, who previously played in Major League Soccer with the LA Galaxy, joins a Houston goalkeeper group with Blake Gillingham and the on-the-mend Jimmy Maurer. Head coach Ben Olsen spoke about how well Gillingham has played this season but also was very complimentary of Bond’s skillset and how it fits in well with their roster. Bond will be a domestic player and will be available for tonight’s game. Gillingham will likely get another start tomorrow but it looks to be Bond’s job soon.

Building Block

Last weekend’s win was the proverbial monkey off the backs for this Dynamo team who have struggled with injuries and form early in 2025. Now with that victory in the bag, it’s about building and moving forward for what is still a lot of MLS season left. The Dynamo have picked up two points this season on the road, in Columbus and Seattle, and will have to feel this trip to Southern California is a good shot at more.

Carson Crashout

After winning MLS Cup last season, the LA Galaxy underwent a lot of change. They had to clear a lot of salary off their books and use all their allocation money (they literally have $0 now) just to keep the players they did. Now in 2025, LA has yet to win a match in MLS play. They did put up a fight against Tigres, in Mexico, on Tuesday, losing 3-2 to be eliminated from Concacaf Champions Cup. This team may not be championship-level like they were last year but their key pieces are getting healthy. With Joseph Paintsil and Gabriel Pec leading the line, this Galaxy team is as dangerous as anyone in MLS, and the Dynamo will have to be up for the challenge.
