The Houston Dynamo’s rough start to the season continued with a disappointing home loss to Real Salt Lake at Shell Energy Stadium. Now, they face another tough challenge as they head to the Pacific Northwest to take on the Seattle Sounders—a team they have historically struggled against, having never won at Lumen Field.
Houston and Seattle share a deep MLS history, with their most recent encounter ending in heartbreak for the Dynamo when the Sounders eliminated them in last season’s playoffs. This time, Houston will need to be at their best to contain Seattle’s key threats. Striker Jordan Morris, who recently became the club’s all-time leading scorer, is sidelined with an injury, and in his absence, Paul Rothrock will look to step up. Rothrock has found plenty of success against the Dynamo in recent matchups and could pose a serious threat once again.
