The Houston Dynamo are back on the road as they now face the task of winning for the first time ever in Seattle. The Sounders eliminated the Dynamo from the playoffs last season as well. Houston has yet to win this season and getting their first win of 2025, and first ever in the Emerald City, would be a huge result.

Some Momentum
The Dynamo lost their third straight home match to begin 2025, falling 2-1 to Real Salt Lake last Saturday. But, the Dynamo did pick up a win midweek in a friendly against the El Salvador National Team. Yes, it’s just a friendly but getting that winning feeling back in the squad can’t be understated. It was also an important match as it saw the return of center back Erik Sviatchenko. Head coach Ben Olsen spoke in his pre-match press conference how important Sviatchenko is to what they do defensively and how important it is to have him back. If he gets the start tonight, he will boost a struggling Houston back line.
Missing in Midfield
Jack McGlynn will be unavailable for this match after getting called into the United States Men’s National Team. McGlynn came off the bench in the USMNT loss to Panama Thursday night, an appearance Olsen said he was able to see. Without McGlynn in the lineup, it would seem to be a perfect chance for Brooklyn Raines. Unfortunately, Raines is also on international duty with the US U-20s. This leaves Olsen and staff with big questions in the midfield. Do they bring Erik Dueñas into the lineup? Or do they go ultra-defensive with Junior Urso alongside Artur? The Dynamo will also play this game with a new starting goalkeeper after Andrew Tarbell tore his ACL in the loss to RSL. Jimmy Maurer is the new starting keeper and he’ll be thrown right into the proverbial fire.
Seattle Slump
Can it even be called a slump if you have never won? The Dynamo will try once again to win in Seattle and once again it will be a tough ask. The Sounders have been a poster club for Major League Soccer ever since they joined the league. They do have some injuries and players on international duty but can still put out a very solid squad that will more than test the Dynamo. Wouldn’t it be something if a Dynamo team who hasn’t won all year finally breaks their drought in Seattle?
