Houston Dynamo at FC Dallas player ratings
The Houston Dynamo lost their second straight game this past weekend, this time on the road to FC Dallas. Let’s take a look at how everyone performed.
Starters
Steve Clark-7
It will be hard to be incredibly harsh on any of the defenders and keeper, as they were under massive amounts of pressure the entire match. Steve made three saves and allowed two goals. The result was certainly not Steve’s fault in any way.
Griffin Dorsey-0
Can we even give him a rating? He played for four minutes and got a red card, not really much to say about with his performance. It completely changed the entire dynamic of this match, especially with the card coming just five minutes into the game.
Ethan Bartlow-7
Ethan had a very solid performance given the circumstances. The first goal was a rough moment for him as Petar Musa took an incredible touch to get right past Ethan and score. With the way Musa was running and the quality of player he is, it’s hard to mark that down as a mistake for Ethan and more something that deserves praise for the Dallas striker.
Micael-8
Micael was incredibly strong at the back with all the pressure coming his way. He made multiple potential game saving plays and tallied an incredible five blocks.
Franco Escobar-1
This was a frustrating night for Escobar as he was asked to switch between the left and right fullback position throughout the game. Not sure what he was doing sitting so deep on the play that saw Dorsey get sent off. He needs to do a better job of stepping up and forcing an offside call on that play.
Artur-7
Artur was solid as always. Most of the play went through Artur throughout the game. His first half in particular was incredible as the Dynamo held much better control as one would expect down to ten men. He disappeared a bit in the second half, but can you really blame him.
Coco Carrasquilla-5
Coco put in a good shift in midfield but lacked any real quality to change the game. There were a few transition moments where he drifted through the midfield and failed to pick out a meaningful pass.
Amine Bassi-5
Amine looked lively in the only half he played and looked the most likely to create anything for the Dynamo. It was probably the right call from Ben Olsen to take him out at half time and reserve his legs for next weekend when they will hopefully be playing 11v11.
Latif Blessing-N/A
Not even sure how we can even give Latif a proper rating. He made only seven touches in the first eighteen minutes before being substituted for a more defensive option.
Aliyu Ibrahim-6
Aliyu was an absolute work horse for the entire 90 minutes. His play off the ball was superb and he covered so much ground and so many different positions. The service to him on the counter attacks was incredibly poor which led to little to no scoring opportunities for Aliyu.
Sebastian Kowalczyk-5
Like Aliyu, Kowalczyk put his heart and soul into this match with the amount of running he did. Leading the line for a team down to ten men for the entire match is incredibly difficult and he did his best given the circumstance.
Substitutes
Daniel Steres-4
Steres came on very early for Latif Blessing to solidify the defense. He did an alright job of that for most of the game until the second FC Dallas goal. He completely lost his man on the set piece giving Sebastien Ibeagha a free header in the box.
Brad Smith-4
Brad Smith played the entire second half after coming on for Bassi. He put in a solid shift out wide but made zero impact on the ball.
Hector Herrera-4
Hector came on for the last 25 minutes to get some more gametime under his belt. He had to come extremely deep to even get touches of the ball, which limited his ability to impact the game in a meaningful way.
McKinze Gaines and Erik Sviatchenko-N/A
It was great to see both players get on the field with it being McKinze’s debut and Erik’s first game back from injury. Neither were on the field long enough to give a proper rating.
Head Coach
Ben Olsen-7
Ben did his best to coach his team to at least a point in an incredibly tough environment. Unfortunately, the defense just couldn’t hold on with all the pressure coming their way. Ben made some good subs and spaced them out well, but the reality is that players are just going to get tired in this game environment. This was a tough one to swallow for sure, but the team will quickly move on to St. Louis next weekend.
