HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH BEN OLSEN

On trying to get a result with ten men:

“The team gave it their all. You are going to have games like this in a long season where you get a red card, and things don’t go your way. The effort was there, but the game just didn’t go for us.”

On in-game management after a red card:

“We tried several different moves throughout the match. They can all be equally effective, but none of them solved being down a man for almost one hundred minutes of the game. Even with five subs, it is a lot to ask of these guys. We still had some of the ball, and the guys gave everything.”

On the traveling fans:

“They were awesome. I am so sorry to them, and that is the most disappointing thing about this. I can take a loss, but it hurts to not give them the show they deserve. But the guys gave the fans everything, and we continued to fight. We will get back to work and make them proud next weekend.”

HOUSTON DYNAMO GOALKEEPER STEVE CLARK

On trying to get a result with ten men:

“It’s always going to be a difficult game when you go down a man five minutes in. We still fought and put a lot of effort into the game. The first goal really hurt us, but overall, you can’t fault the guys for how hard we worked.”

On maintaining the team composure:

“Everyone understands what’s ahead of us. There is a moment of frustration after a result like this, but then you have to focus on the job at hand.”

On the mood in the locker room:

“We are a pretty close group, so we are going to stick together. We feel good about where we are as a team, so we just need to get results. This is a different team than last year, and with that comes a different mentality. We have to make sure we do the little things to win games.”
