Houston Dynamo at FC Dallas - Staff picks
The Houston Dynamo are on the road for the first Texas Derby of the season. We asked our staff to weigh in on if the Dynamo can get a win in Frisco.
Cristian - 3-1 Dynamo win
(Record: 3-6)
It’s a derby. Legs will be kicked, punches might be thrown, but the 3-1 score line goes to the team in purple. Tactics don’t matter in these types of games, it’s all heart and will to win.
Rudy - 2-1 Dynamo win
(Record: 3-6)
The Texas Derby is always intense. These are two teams, heck two cities, that always want to beat each other. Dallas is plagued by injuries and are not playing well. On the other hand, Houston is playing well but lost last week and will be looking to shake off the embarrassment. Houston wins tonight in Frisco for the first time in 13 years.
Manny - 1-1 draw
(Record: 2-7)
Dallas isn't playing their best football, mostly due to their injuries. The Dynamo are playing well and know how to dominate games, but seem to struggle to put away chances. The Texas Derby is another animal like most derbies and I can see another night where the Dynamo can fail to finish their chances, especially at Frisco where they have failed to win for years.
Joey - 1-1 draw
(Record: 3-6)
Both teams have been struggling to score goals and both teams will have limited minutes for their star player. Expect an ugly physical game with some set piece goals.
Dustyn - 2-1 Dynamo win
(Record: 3-6)
The Dynamo should win this game. They’re slightly favored on the road, even. But none of that matters in a derby. The return of Jesus Ferreira could boost the home side but Houston does enough to scrape three points.
Gribbs - 2-1 Dynamo win
(Record 2-4)
This is a game that feels like it can go in any direction - win, loss, or draw. For a derby, I tend to go with the home team or a draw, but I think the Dynamo are finding themselves despite dropping a close one against Austin last week. Houston have done reasonably well - for this league anyways - on the road. FC Dallas on the other hand have struggled this season and if Houston can remain focused and silence the crowd early through a goal and possession, a victory is not out of the question.
Billy 2-0 Dynamo win
(Record 4-5)
The Dynamo dominated last week for all but 15 seconds of the match and were unlucky not to come away with any points. This week, I don't see that being much of an issue. It's a difficult match away but the Dynamo looked like last season;s offensive threat when HH took the field. Although unlucky, the Dynamo were the far superior side last week and I expect that chemistry to grow exponentially now that their captain has returned. The Dynamo get a massive away win tonight.
