The Houston Dynamo thrashed the Colorado Rapids 5-1 in the last home match of the regular season. Let’s take a look at how everyone performed.

Starters

Steve Clark-7

Steve did not have a whole lot to do in goal, like most home games. He made only one save and was solid with his feet. The goal conceded was not on him and most goalkeepers would not have expected that shot to come off there.

Franco Escobar-8

A great defensive night from Escobar, making three tackles and two blocks. Not a whole lot for him going forward on the night, but clearly, he was not needed in that regard.

Micael-8

Great distribution from Micael, completing 95% of his passes. He played exceptional defense and is keeping Teenage Hadebe out of the lineup. He was not involved in the goal conceded.

Erik Sviatchenko-6

Not a standout performance from Sviatchenko, as he did not have a whole lot to do in this game. While there was a lot of traffic, his clearance in the buildup to Cole Bassett’s goal was not great.

Griffin Dorsey-9

One of his best games this season as he dominated on both sides of the ball. He was able to make three blocks, two tackles, and an interception. He got the assist for the opening goal of the game to set the tone.

Artur-8

Defensively, Artur did not have a whole lot to do in this game. His passing was superb as usual, and he took his goal very well. Great to see him getting involved in the box lately.

Hector Herrera-9

Hector did what he tends to do in games at Shell Energy Stadium. He dominated the touches, once again leading his teammates to multiple goal scoring situations. He also had a great defensive night with four tackles.

Amine Bassi-10

Bassi was at his best, completing 97% of his passes with five shot-creating actions. Along with his brilliance in the passing game, he managed to score his tenth goal in MLS. This time it was not even from the penalty spot. He also had an assist in a very unselfish play to Artur.

Coco Carrasquilla-10

Nobody on this team progresses the ball quite as well as Coco does. His ability to create in the transition game is among the best in MLS and it showed on Saturday. His usual criticism is his lack of production in the final third but on the night he was making some superb passes in and around the box. He capped off his night with a great assist to Corey Baird for goal number four.

Nelson Quinones-10

Nelson’s first brace in MLS came at just the right time where the team needs the forwards to start hitting some great form. Along with his two goals, his creative ability was the best it’s been with five shot creating actions and completing 94% of his passes. He also was able to dribble with the ball from defense into attack more than any other player on the field.

Corey Baird-9

Corey did not have the prettiest of games and still managed to come away with both a goal and an assist. His work rate is unbelievable and when he can combine with the other midfielders on this team, magic happens.

Substitutes

It’s hard to give any of the substitutes a rating as Ben Olsen did not make any subs until the 78th minute when it was already 4-1. Everyone did their part in seeing out the game and getting the result they wanted.

Head Coach

Ben Olsen-9

Ben has the players playing some outstanding soccer at Shell Energy Stadium. He got the lineup spot on and was able to make sure the players did not get complacent against a bottom of the table team. The only possible criticism is that he was very slow to make subs in a game with a forgone conclusion. Thankfully, that decision did not haunt him with any unnecessary yellow cards or injuries.
