The Houston Dynamo followed up the Open Cup win with a disappointing 0-0 draw against FC Dallas. Let’s take a look at how everyone performed.

Starters

Steve Clark-7

Steve did not have a whole lot to do, only making two saves. Neither were extremely difficult saves. He earned another shutout as he inches closer to leading the league in that category. He is currently tied with Stefan Frei with only three games to go.

Micael-8

Micael found himself back at left back and had another great performance. He was nearly perfect on defense and his positional awareness out wide is improving significantly. His passing was also very good and rounded out an all-around great game.

Teenage Hadebe-9

He did not always look pretty in this match, but he made so many game saving plays that earned his team the shutout. He had one very poor giveaway in the first half, but after that it was just big play after big play. The chemistry is beginning to form with Erik and Micael. It should only go up from here for Teenage.

Erik Sviatchenko-8

Erik continues to do what he does best and that is leading this backline with his intelligent positioning. His leadership continues to create a backline that is overall solid in every category. His passing was great once again as he is usually the center back to push the play forward.

Franco Escobar-5

Franco looked a bit off in this game as he wasn’t particularly impressive on either side of the ball. Even while not looking his best, he managed to impact the game with three tackles. He may be a guy who needs to rest on Wednesday.

Artur-7

Another one of those consistent performances from Artur. He does his defensive duties well and keeps the play simple and smooth. We know what we get from Artur at this point.

Hector Herrera-8

Ben Olsen described Hector as a machine for playing another 90 minutes at a very high level. His ability to control the ball in more ways you can imagine continues to elevate this team in every way. Unfortunately, his efforts did not lead to all three points, but it was another excellent performance.

Amine Bassi-7

Another impressive shift for Amine Bassi playing, 90 minutes on tired legs. His work rate was outstanding and his playmaking efforts were great to see. The end product was not there on the night, however.

Ivan Franco-4

Ivan was very active in the first half, getting off five shots. None of those shots were on target but at least he is getting more involved and finding himself in good spots. Franco didn’t have the best game playmaking wise either. He is probably not a player that will see significant minutes soon.

Brad Smith-4

Like Franco, Brad was finding himself in a lot of great spots but could not execute. He had one good delivery where nobody was in the right position to get on the end of it. Overall, not great from Brad and the team loses a lot when he is on the field over Nelson Quinones.

Corey Baird-3

Corey is starting to hit one of those bad runs of form he tends to find himself in where he is nearly invisible in the box. His work rate was awesome, and he was crucial in winning possession back but just not enough from him.

Substitutes

Nelson Quinones-6

Nelson had another awesome game defensively, making three tackles. Going forward he wasn’t great, but not awful either. His passing was perfect, he just couldn’t get himself in any good positions to create for himself or others.

Coco Carrasquilla-3

Coco’s inability to finish off plays is becoming a massive issue for this team as he is a player who is constantly finding himself in these positions. Another crucial miss caps off what was an overall not great performance.

Ethan Bartlow and Aliyu Ibrahim-N/A

Both came on after the 80th minute and did not have a lot of time to shine. Ethan did well coming on for Sviatchenko who had a small knock. Aliyu only had one touch of the ball the whole time.

Head Coach

Ben Olsen-6

Considering the suspensions and short rest, a point was not the worst result in the world. The team played alright and probably should have won the game. He may have took a little too long to make that Aliyu sub as Baird was a non-factor most of the game.
