Houston Dynamo vs FC Dallas - Staff picks

The Houston Dynamo will try to get three points as they return to Shell Energy Stadium tonight. We asked our staff to weigh in on if the Dynamo can get a win against FC Dallas tonight.

Cristian - 1-1 draw
(Record: 3-9)

My heart wants Houston to trample all over that other team, but even with possessing the ball for the majority of the match the goals are just not there. Derbies are meant to be won and the last time that happened was back in 2021 and I don’t see that changing tonight.

Rudy - 1-1 draw
(Record: 4-8)

Dallas is getting healthy, especially up front with the return of Jesus Ferreira. This makes me uneasy as the Dynamo have struggled to score multiple goals in a game. Therefore, a clean sheet for Steve Clark feels unlikely and a draw is the most possible outcome.

Manny - 2-1 Dynamo loss
(Record: 2-10)

The Dynamo can’t seem to get the upper hand on their Texas rivals. Houston can control the game and have all the tools to win but fall short by their own mistakes or self inflicted decisions. Today, it will be no exception.

Joey - 0-0 draw
(Record: 3-9)

These are two teams that are really struggling for goals at the moment. If someone is to win the game, the Dynamo might have the advantage of being at home with extra motivation given their record in Texas derbies this season.

Dustyn - 1-0 Dynamo loss
(Record: 3-9)

This Dynamo team looks lost for ideas in the offensive third right now and I’m not sure how they change that. Hector Herrera will help but he can’t do it all on his own. Or, can he? Aliyu Ibrahim and Sebastian Kowalczyk will need to step up their goal-scoring as Houston still has a long season ahead.

Gribbs - 1-0 Dynamo win
(Record 3-6)

Houston has struggled with consistency this season and with Hector Herrera back in the lineup they've looked more positive in how they control and move the ball. The team's biggest issue is up top as the forwards struggle to convert in front of goal. I think the Dynamo will muster enough to get one back past Dallas.

Billy 2-1 Dynamo loss
(Record 4-8)

Coming off a disappointing, hard fought midweek match and now heading to a well rested FC Dallas, the Dynamo could struggle to find their opportunities this weekend.
