Houston Dynamo vs Minnesota United player ratings

The Houston Dynamo fought back to earn a point against Minnesota in a 1-1 draw at Shell Energy Stadium. Let’s take a look at how everyone performed.

Starters

Steve Clark-4

Not an impressive night from Steve, making only one save and conceding a goal at his near post. It wasn’t the worst goal in the world for him to give up but you would like to see him keep that one out.

Griffen Dorsey-6

Not a bad performance from Dorsey but nothing special in a game where he could have made the difference. He failed to be inventive in the final third when opportunities arose. He did have a solid defensive performance.

Erik Sviatchenko-9

Erik had a monster defensive performance, stopping Minnesota from creating many quality chances. He then went on to create the tying goal with a flick-on header on a corner kick.

Micael-5

Micael was really solid outside the one set piece he fell asleep on leading to Minnesota’s goal. He needs to be better closing down that angle to not allow a shot on goal. He was very good playing out of the back for the rest of the game.

Daniel Steres-8

Daniel put in another really good display after being relegated to the bench for Franco Escobar in recent weeks. He always performs when called upon and is an integral part of this Houston roster. He held down the left side of the defense all game long, making no notable mistakes.

Artur-8

An excellent performance from Artur where he made an incredible five tackles. His passing was near perfect and was a huge part of why the Dynamo controlled the midfield all night long.

Hector Herrera-9 (MOTM)

What more is there to say about this guy? He had 135 touches, leading both teams by a wide margin. He had 21 progressive passes and had twelve shot-creating actions also leading both teams. The tying goal was then created off his corner kick. An incredible performance from Hector.

Amine Bassi-6

This was not Bassi’s most impressive performance. He had a goal called back for offside and seemed frustrated at times with the positioning of his other forwards and others not being on the same page as him. His work rate remained incredible as usual.

Coco Carrasquilla-6

It was nice to see Coco come back from Copa America and start right away. His performance was nothing special because he failed to create too many chances for his teammates.

Aliyu Ibrahim-5

Aliyu simply was not as involved as he should’ve been in this match. He looked lively when he had the chance to work on the ball, but that did not happen enough. He will need to step his game up with the potential of another winger coming through the door.

Sebas Ferreira-7

I can’t say someone had a bad game when they scored a goal, being that is the entire purpose of the sport, but he came pretty close to having a bad game. He did not look good whatsoever whenever he had the ball and failed to be in good positions to receive passes. He took the one big chance that came his way and that’s all you need from him at the end of the day.

Substitutes

Tate Schmitt-5

Tate came in for Daniel Steres and was just ok. Not a whole lot to talk about him in the 20 minutes he played. Nothing special, but nothing bad either.

Sebastian Kowalczyk-5

Similar things can be said about Kowalczyk who was just fine. He only made six touches, so what can you really say about his performance.

McKinze Gaines-N/A

McKinze only logged one minute, which is not enough to give a rating.

Head Coach

Ben Olsen-6

This was a fairly typical home performance for the Dynamo this season where they dominate the play, but don’t put in all the chances and leave points on the table. It was a frustrating game for both teams looking to get all three points at this crucial point in the season. Despite the recent goals, you can see why Ben is eager to get Ezequiel Ponce involved soon.
