Jane Campbell’s 2024 season with the Houston Dash highlighted once again her reliability and growth as a cornerstone of the team. The 29-year-old goalkeeper had a strong season, further establishing herself as one of the NWSL’s top keepers, with career totals that include 35 shutouts, ranking her among the league’s best in this category.

Despite Houston Dash’s challenging season, on and off the field, Campbell’s consistent performances have been a key asset. Her leadership and experience are especially valuable as the team has seen multiple coaching changes over recent years, and in the midst of another rebuild at at that. Off the field, Campbell has deepened her ties to Houston through community engagement and personal connections, reinforcing her commitment to the club and the city.

Her dedication and strong form have also kept her on the radar for the U.S. Women’s National Team, with her performance in a June friendly and being called up as a replacement player for the Olympic Games in Paris. She missed the last game of the season due to a hamstring injury sustained during her time in the USWNT camp, but if healthy, Jane could possibly break into the starting lineup in the senior squad for good, playing for club and country.

Moment of the season

Jane’s moment of the season came in the home match against Angel City in the summer when she had 5 massive saves that included a penalty kick save, in the match that ended in a 0-0 draw. Campbell does such a fantastic job making goal line saves and keeping the team in games each and every time she is on the field for the Dash.

Looking forward

Campbell, who has been with the Dash since 2017, extended her contract in June, ensuring her continued presence in Houston and preventing her from entering free agency. The extension runs through the 2027 season, with an option for 2028. Amid the ongoing turmoil around the club, the Dash at least are in safe hands between the posts.
