2024 in review
Jyllissa Harris had a challenging 2024 season with the Houston Dash, marked by limited play and setbacks. Jyllissa was given the start in the first game of the NWSL season against NC Courage, which turned into a 5-1 beat down for Houston. The loss was not purely on Harris, but unfortunately, she found herself on the bench after that game. She played only 9 minutes in the next 5 months, before she once again saw meaningful minutes.
Harris started the last 8 games for the Dash due to injuries to regular starters Natalie Jacobs and Tarciane. Houston only won one game out of the 8 games, keeping the only clean sheet as well in that victory. Jyllissa doubled the games that she appeared in her sophomore season as she continued to adapt to the speed and physical style of play in the NWSL.
Moment of the season
Harris’ moment of the season, and possibly the best moment for the Dash in general, came late in the season in an away match against San Diego Wave. Jyllissa had a very good defensive performance that included 2 blocks, 6 clearances and 4 recoveries. Not a bad day at the office for Harris in a tough season.
Looking forward
Harris was drafted in 2023 and was signedfor that season and an option for 2024, which was triggered. Now the club is going into a hard reset and it is likely that she might not return for the season to come. We await an official announcement from the Houston Dash on that decision.
